A great way to explore an exciting aspect of NYC! Planned activities and shows were great and free time with my teen granddaughter was so much fun. Well worth the trip.

This amazing program is HIGHLY recommended by both my granddaughter and me. It was exciting and informative for both of us. The leader and educators are welcoming and knowledgeable, the accommodations are fine, we both learned a lot and would do it again in a heartbeat if we were able.

My granddaughter/ grandparent trip to NYC “Behind the Scenes …Stage, Theatre and Film” was outstanding for my 14year old. We saw NYC from the Village to the Heights. Experienced backstage at Radio City Music Hall. Saw a broadway musical and met one of the actors. Learned so much about what goes on behind the scenes of film and theatre. Hotel was good, conveniently located. Meals in many various restaurants were outstanding. I highly recommend this program!! We used the subway and felt safe. The leader was so knowledgeable and informed us as we walked thru the city about the sites we were passing. Group was 18 kids - a little too large but manageable.

4 RoadScholar trips with our Grandchildren and each one delivered in amazing ways! This trip was designed with 13-17 year olds in mind and engaged our grandchildren fully. Our 16 year old grandson commented that the leaders "were absolutely fantastic and brought this trip to a whole other level." I would highly recommend it!

This was our second RS trip. Our first (British Isles) was terrific. However, this trip had some glitches. The speakers were the best part of the program. They were all very interesting, and Dan Egan did a great job of presenting information and hosting the other speakers. The kids were able to meet people from the entertainment industry, including one of the lead actors from The Great Gatsby.
We didn’t care for the hotel. The hotel has invested money in the lobby and hallways, but they need to do a better job with the rooms and staff training. The rooms are very small, and it helps to be a contortionist in order to move around. One of our rooms had frayed carpet, which needed a thorough cleaning. One of our family woke with bedbug bites. We had to pack up, then wait for another room to be cleaned, and that meant we missed out on the group trip and lunch. We received an apology from one of the RS guides, but nothing from the hotel, not so much as a simple apology. It was evident that they really didn’t want to talk about the issue. They just handed us the key to another room and said we had to wait to move in because the person designated to clean it was on their lunch break. So, we found our own activity and our own lunch. Obviously, it wasn’t what we’d paid for.
To summarize: Good program, good speakers, interesting sights. Terrible hotel. Bedbugs. Upon returning home, we spend two days heating/sterilizing our clothing and luggage, hoping to kill any bedbug eggs that may have hitched a ride.

Sharing New York City and its theater with your grandchild is an eye-opening experience for both generations! This program presents information about what goes on on-stage and behind the curtain that allows an exploration of both. Couple iconic NYC locations with iconic NYC food and you have a wining combination. You will enjoy the total experience!

My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed and learned so much participating in this New York City program. The individuals from all aspects of the film, tv and theater who shared with us were very interesting and informative. Seeing the city through this lens gave us a whole new perspective. Thank you to Angela and Joe for getting us everywhere and sharing their NYC with us.

My granddaughter and I were so excited to be able to finally go on this trip after it was postponed during Covid. The staff did an amazing job of making changes that were necessary due to Covid restrictions. The lectures were wonderful and kept my granddaughters attention and mine! Everything was planned very well. We enjoyed every minute of it! I would highly recommend it to anyone with a middle school aged grandchild that is interested in musical theater. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job of leading the group!

This program was well-planned and well-executed. So much information presented in an engaging manner. I do not hesitate to recommend. Teenagers are a tough group to please but I think RoadScholar has figured it out.
