It was a great trip and I was thrilled to have Ted as our Trip Leader. He was my TL for the Salmon River trip too. I thought I'd be able to raft the whole time but alas, there were 2 areas where hiking was mandatory and no other options. I now admit I am NOT a hiker. There were several places where I was terrified that I was going to fall (off the cliff and/or on the trail and hurt myself). Thankfully, the others were up to the challenge and enjoyed the hikes while I rafted as much as possible. I felt very comfortable with Ted in charge and both his helpers, Pasqual and Tyler, were also very competent and delightful to be with. Lodging better than I expected and meals very tasty. I'm very glad I went and highly recommend it!

This was an exciting program which enabled all of us to disengage from our daily routine. The accommodations were terrific (even the one which turned off the power at 10PM) and the meals were excellent - pancakes every morning. The task of breaking down our packs into the water bags turned out to be a piece of cake - as was the changing into and out of our water shoes. Here are some thoughts. A. several hikers got ticks. Consider using Permethrin on at least your pants before you go. B. the trail is simply an elevated track high above the east(?) bank of the river. This leads to a narrow walkway and a sharp drop-off on the hikers left. In areas the path was under 30" wide. C. there were several spots where the trail was washed out. The overall guide helped overcome this challenge. D. don't expect any wifi, TV or contact with the "real world". E. the raft rowers were excellent. F. the choice of hiking versus rowing each day (except for one required morning hike) was a positive. Overall the program was well managed.

The hiking on this trip can be down-right grueling and often challenging--parts of the trail could be described as "hair-raising"--but it's an experience unlike any other. Everything about this program was well planned and executed--and that couldn't happen without Ted's excellent experience as guide, and rafters that can only be described as remarkable. Savannah, Ben, and Tyler astounded me every day with their expertise, skill, and passion for river rafting and making sure we were all having a good time. We couldn't have asked for a better crew. And they were fun to be around!

If you're up for a magical, exciting and grounding adventure, then journey down this beautiful and ancient river corridor on foot and by raft as people have done for millenia. There's nothing like it!

Wonderful trip hiking and rafting along the Rogue River. We had the greatest of trip leaders and river guides. It was a very special trip. We were inspired by our guides and fellow travelers as well. Every day and every lodge was unique.

The Lodge to Lodge Hiking and Rafting Experience in the Rogue River Valley is an outstanding experience. The area is stunningly beautiful. Every hike is amazing. The river rafting was challenging enough to be an adventure without being dangerous or terrifying. The Group Leader and the Raft Leaders/Rowers were friendly, competent and fun. The historic inns were interesting and did not have WIFI so I got the unexpected bonus of being off the grid and out in nature which was wonderful!

If you want to hike the Rogue River Trail, experience some of the river and stay in wilderness lodges, this hike is for you, just be careful of the poison ivy, it's nasty.

We had a wonderful experience. The group was well suited to the activities and the scenery was more than worth the price of admission. The historical side of this trip was quite interesting as well. Ted, Michael and Alex were excellent guides. The only complaint I would have is that there just wasn't enough time to just take in all the amazing beauty that the Rogue River showcases.

this trip has been one of the best Road Scolar experiences for me. The small group size, the moving from Lodge to Lodge and the altering of rafting and hiking were all that made this trip a must.

A wonderful experience hiking and rafting the Rogue River through the Wild and Scenic Area. Our nights in remote lodges along the river were a perfect part of the adventure.

I loved seeing the Wild and Scenic Rogue River both from above by hiking and below by rafting. There aren't many places you can go to be "off the grid" and this trip is one of them. The remote lodges were special, the food was fantastic, and the leaders were a lot of fun!
