If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Camiano Piccolo Agriturismo in Montefalco

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:30 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: From the Rome airport take the Leonardo Express train to the Termini central train station. This shuttle train is reachable by taking the pedestrian bridge across the street. It is very well marked and runs every 20 minutes (approx. 30 minute train ride and costs about 15 Euro). You may then connect to a train to Foligno (approx. 1 1/2 hour train ride and costs about 20 Euro). Tickets can be purchased at kiosks in the airport or at the central station and more information can be found at www.trenitalia.com/en. From Foligno train station, you can take a local bus to Montefalco (approx. 30 minutes). More information for the bus service can be found at www.fsbusitalia.it. The hotel is about one mile, approximately a 20 minute walk, from the bus station. Taxis are available, or you can reach out to the hotel to arrange for a pick up from the bus station. A private car and driver from the airport to the first hotel will cost between €340-480. You can book a private car and driver by contacting www.how2transfer.com..

End of Trip: 10:00 a.m. after breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out. Breakfast available depending on transfer times. .

Getting to the airport: You may transfer via train to the Rome Fiumicino Airport. The hotel or Group Leader can assist you with directions.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” status. However, both the arrival and departure transfers on this program are an exception to that policy due to the distance and complicated nature of the transfers. If you are arriving early, departing later, or booked your own air, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival and/or departure transfers. Reservations can be made by contacting the Road Scholar Europe team. We kindly request that you wait to reach out until after you have received your first information packet. Transfer schedules are based on the times of arrival/departure for Road Scholar booked flights and will vary from departure to departure. If you are arranging your own air, we request that your ARRIVAL flight arrives no later than 11:30 a.m., and your DEPARTURE flight departs no earlier than 12:00 p.m. in order to ensure your flight will arrive/depart within the same time period as the flights arranged with RS. There is no guarantee that the final transfer schedule will coincide with independently booked flights. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
