If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Camiano Piccolo Agriturismo in Montefalco

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:30 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: From the Rome airport take the Leonardo Express train to the Termini central train station. This shuttle train is reachable by taking the pedestrian bridge across the street. It is very well marked and runs every 20 minutes (approx. 30 minute train ride and costs about 15 Euro). You may then connect to a train to Foligno (approx. 1 1/2 hour train ride and costs about 20 Euro). Tickets can be purchased at kiosks in the airport or at the central station and more information can be found at www.trenitalia.com/en. From Foligno train station, you can take a local bus to Montefalco (approx. 30 minutes). More information for the bus service can be found at www.fsbusitalia.it. The hotel is about one mile, approximately a 20 minute walk, from the bus station. Taxis are available, or you can reach out to the hotel to arrange for a pick up from the bus station. A private car and driver from the airport to the first hotel will cost between €340-480. You can book a private car and driver by contacting www.how2transfer.com..

End of Trip: 10:00 a.m. after breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out. Breakfast available depending on transfer times. .

Getting to the airport: You may transfer via train to the Rome Fiumicino Airport. The hotel or Group Leader can assist you with directions.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Transfers for Independent Travelers: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” status. However, the arrival and departure transfers on this program are an exception to that policy due to the distance and complicated nature of traveling to/from the program hotels. If you booked air with RS and are arriving early and/or are departing later, or booked your own air, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival and/or departure transfers. Reservations can be made by contacting rseuropeprograms@roadscholar.org NO LATER THAN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM START DATE! The transfer times and vehicle sizes are confirmed at this 30-day deadline, so any participant reaching out with a request after SEPTEMBER 2nd may no longer be eligible for the transfer. YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR PROGRAM NUMBER AND DATE IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR REQUEST. IF YOU ARRANGED AIR ON YOUR OWN, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR FLIGHT INFORMATION, ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE DATE, AND WHETHER YOU WANT TO JOIN THE ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE, OR BOTH TRANSFERS IN YOUR REQUEST. The final transfer schedules are based on the times of arrival/departure for Road Scholar booked flights and can be found above. To be approved to join an arrival transfer your flight must arrive NO LATER than 11:30 a.m. or the RS flights listed, whichever is later. To be approved to join a departure transfer your flight must depart NO EARLIER than 12:00 p.m. IF YOU ARRANGED AIR WITH ROAD SCHOLAR AND ARE ARRIVING EARLY/DEPARTING LATER, you will not automatically be added to a transfer. You MUST reach out to RS Europe in order to reserve your space on the designated group transfer. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you are making your own way to the program hotel. Should you miss your assigned transfer, you will be responsible for making your own transfer arrangements to the first location.
