After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

Italy is a member of the Schengen Agreement, a set of European and national standards governing different types of visas. As a result of this agreement, Americans may visit the country for up to 90 days without a visa, provided they have a US passport valid for at least six months from the planned date of departure from the EU.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Glance Hotel in Florence

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:00 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner

Getting to the site: To reach the program site from the airport on your own, you have a few options. At the information desk in the airport arrivals terminal, you can get the most updated bus and train timetables. Please check Florence Airport website for more info: https://www.aeroporto.firenze.it/en/the-passengers/transport.html Bus: the Volainbus shuttle connects every 30 minutes and 7 days a week from the Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport to Via Santa Caterina da Siena, 17 in Florence. The bus station is nearby the Florence Santa Maria Novella Railway Station. The Glance Hotels is 3 minutes' walk from the bus station in Florence. The Volainbus is a shuttle service direct and fast that does not make any intermediate stops and the ride is about 20 minutes. Tramway: the T2 tramway connects Florence Airport to Piazza dell'Unita Italiana in Florence. The ride is about 20 minutes. The Glance Hotels is 6 minutes' walk from the tramway station in Florence. Taxi: Taxis are outside the arrival area. The ride from Florence Airport to the Glance Hotel is about 20 minutes. Taxi fare is set by the city. Supplements may be added for luggage. We cannot quote these services as they are public transportations. Private transfers can be arranged in advance at an additional cost. Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
