All information we obtain regarding health precautions is from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta at 404-332-4559 or www.cdc.gov. Please remember that we are a travel company and are not authorized to prescribe any inoculations or medications. The CDC recommends that your Hepatitis A and B, COVID-19, and routine immunizations (chickenpox, DTP, flu, MMR, polio, shingles) be current. No inoculations are required to enter Italy. If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Michelangelo in Sorrento

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 4:30 p.m. Neighborhood Walk; 6:45 p.m. Welcome Reception; 7:15 p.m. Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: To reach Sorrento on your own, there are two options: A) Curreri Viaggi coaches depart every hour from Parcheggio P1 (Parking lot P1), just outside the terminal at Naples Capodichino Airport. The ticket costs €10 and can be purchased on board or in advance at www.curreriviaggi.it/. The ride takes about 1.15 hours, with stops along the way. In Sorrento, get off at Sorrento—Stazione (Train Station), the last stop on the line. If you can manage your bags for the walk to the hotel, exit the station and cross the piazza Giovanni Battista de Curtis, then turn onto via Ernesto de Curtis (200 ft). When you reach the Corso Italia, take a right and walk 0.1 mi. to the hotel. If you cannot manage your bags, there is a taxi stand at the train station exit; the fare will be about €10 for the ride. B) A private car and driver transfer direct from Naples Capodichino Airport to the hotel in Sorrento can be requested and arranged through Sireon Tours (Sorrento) at +39 081 807 1865 or email paola@sireontours.com. The door-to-door service is approximately €180 and must be prepaid using a credit card. Please note that a night supplement of €30 will apply for services between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Getting to the site by train or bus: Sorrento is connected to Naples by a minor railway network called the Circumvesuviana. Naples is on the main railway line that connects major cities in Italy.

Getting to the airport: The most straightforward transportation from the hotel to Naples Capodichino Airport is by taxi. The hotel can call a taxi for you; the fare will be about €20 for up to four passengers with luggage.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: If you purchased the program without airfare through Road Scholar or plan to arrive in Naples a day or two early, you can take advantage of our complimentary transfer service from Naples Airport to Sorrento. To secure your spot, please visit our transfer request page and submit your flight details—flight number and arrival time—no later than 30 days before departure. Once your request is received, you will receive confirmation of the exact transfer time, which may be subject to slight adjustments based on airline schedules.
