The island is beautiful place to escape city life for a while. There is a great deal of interesting history to be discovered. The views are incredible and tea at The Grand Hotel was a definite trip highlight.

The Mackinaw Island trip is a wonderful experience. High Tea at the Grand Hotel and being transported by only horse drawn carriages took us back to an earlier time of island grandeur. This was our first and we look forward to future Road Scholar trips!

A step back in time ...horse drawn carriages instead of cars....a lovely slower way of life

Our program to Mackinac Island was fantastic! Great leader (from Central Michigan University), wonderful speakers and lots of activities, including Tea at The Grand Hotel! The group was wonderfully cohesive, and Mackinac is a special treasure. I'm so glad we went!

Mackinaw island is a fascinating place full of history and beauty. Our RS program provided for a great tour with quality lectures, outings and accomadations. It was well organized and everything ran smoothly and on schedule.

Mackinac Island is one of the most charming locales in the US and Road Scholar made the experience even more fulfilling.

Want to do more than just "see" things. You can lean about them too with a Road Scholar trip. It makes what you see so much more interesting and important.

I highly recommend Mackinac Island in the fall. Early October provided spectacular fall color and less crowded conditions.

Our Road Scholar trip was a revelation. We visited what for many is a tourist destination, an out of the way corner of our country that we probably never would have visited ourselves. The RS speakers brought it alive for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. Thank you, Road Scholar!

I just completed the program "Mackinac Island: The Jewel of Michigan". What a wonderfully planned & executed program!!! The speakers lived/worked many years on the Island & had firsthand knowledge about the topics on which they spoke. They were all entertaining & well versed. Our leader was skilled at keeping us on track while deftly handling any issues that arise. Her assistant was also very skilled at assuring our needs/requests were met. As a 1st time Road Scholar, I can only say, "Any additional program I attend will be challenged to meet this program's high standards!!"

This Road Scholar program enabled me to appreciate Mackinac Island in a deeper way than if I had visited the Island on my own. The Island has an interesting history. Even though it is a small Island, there is much to see and learn and Road Scholar provides the opportunity for participants to learn as much as they wish about the Island and life on Mackinac Island. I'd recommend this program to anyone wishing to visit this beautiful place.
