On Your Feet

This trip was everything I wished for and more. Anyone can go to the Rose Parade, but only with Road Scholar will you get to be a part of the parade. Our first day we were able to work on a self-built float. We actually put lemon leaves on a part of the float. When the float came down the street, we were so proud. They also sold cards for $2 that entitled you to have someone's name inside the float. We got to see Band Fest, meet a former queen, have a discussion with the men who are in charge of the "White Suiter" volunteers, and hear how the floats are judged from an expert on roses . We spent an afternoon at the Getty Center and had a visit from mini therapy horses who marched in the parade. The final day we were able to view the floats up close. We had wonderful bleacher seats for the parade. Every minute we felt that we were a part of the parade. We just loved this experience. The coordination effort needed to pull this off is huge. We had 412 Road Scholars, in two hotels. We were divided into about 11 groups and everything ran like clockwork. We were very impressed.

Rose Parade trip was bucket list item. Road Scholar tour was fantastic!

(5)

If the Rose Bowl event is your on your bucket list. Then this is the program for you!!

(5)

It was hard for RS to describe the physical activity necessary because this changes so much from site to site and day to day.

(5)

Learn about the beautiful Rose Parade & help volunteer to make it possible!

(5)

This is a great take! A unique event and a wonderful way to experience it all.

(5)

I've always wanted to attend the Rose Parade. THe opportunity to work on a float, see the bands, hear from a past queen and the White Suiters were all great bonuses in addition to our good seats for the parade. A Once in a Lifetime experience!

(5)

All my life I had dreamed of going to the Rose Parade and seeing its flower-covered floats up close. To be able to help prep those flowers, and see the float decorating firsthand, and learn more about the Tournament of Roses in general, and wander among the parked floats the following day--who could ask for more?

(5)

Oh wow! What an AWESOME experience!! Not only was the event (Rose Parade) incredible, but the great organization/coordination of the trip by Road Scholar enhanced it all.

(5)

I loved the Rose Parade Celebration trip. Experiencing the process from float barns and building to the post-parade was wonderful. Having Road Scholar take care of all of the logistics allowed me to thoroughly enjoy myself.

(5)

Road Scholar has been doing this for years and they have it down to a first- class science, commanding private lectures by the powers-behind-the Parade in sumptuous surroundings. Hotels and transportation top of the line. Seeing and participating in float construction is the greatest experience, and it comes the first day! Do this! Great fun.

(5)

This program is interactive as you help decorate a float for the Tournament of Roses Parade. Through presentations, it delves into the background of float building, judging, marching band and parade history. The atmosphere is electric as you feel you are a VIP!

(5)

What a terrific time I had with 400+ of my dearest friends! I was in the Violet group of 42, and Teri was a great leader. We had to be up and out the door by 6, and we were kept busy. We helped build a float, and ours won the Sweepstakes award in the Parade. We enjoyed Bandfest, and learned how the judging is done, and learned about the organization, and got to hear from a past queen. On our “ off day” we enjoyed the Getty museum. It’s hard to believe this experience was only 4 days!

(5)

If you ever wondered how, when, where, and what the Rose Parade is all about, this is the trip for you. You will learn so much about how the floats are made, participate in decorating a float, have great seats to view the parade, enjoy a concert by bands who will march in the parade, and have informative lectures on the Rose Bowl Celebration!

(5)

Beautifully organized, a happy trip with lots to do and new things to learn, with gracious and accommodating leaders

(5)

If you have ever watched The Tournament of Roses Parade and wondered "What goes into making that happen?" this is the tour for you. It was so exciting to get a "behind-the-scenes" look at what goes into making the parade happen and then to see it live -- well, it was something I'll never forget!

(5)

This was my first Road Scholar adventure and it was wonderful! Attending the parade was VERY well organized, no hassles & great seats. Helping build the float gives one bragging rights and viewing the floats on the last day leaves you in awe. This is a definite "DO IT!" program.

(4)

You need a back button on the survey so one can go back or forward comments in the right place.

(5)

If you have always wanted to go to the Rose Bowl Parade I would highly encourage you to do it with Road Scholar. The opportunity to work on the floats, hear and see bands before the parade, learn from the previous queen then see the parade and a line up of floats the next day was perfect.

(5)

This program is DEFINITELY a bucket list item!!!!!

(5)

If you are interested in participating in a Rose Parade program, I recommend this trip!

(5)

Busy and beautiful..Enjoyed Band Fest the most!

(5)

A true bucket list item and Iam very glad that we did this program.

(5)

This program followed the description exactly. We were very actively involved in the float barns which was very satisfying (often as a volunteer you stand around with no specific job) but we were needed and really contributed. The presentations were interesting and informative and really revealed what a huge undertaking this parade is. The hilton was comfortable and the trip to the Getty wonderful. Edie as a group leader was one of the best of all my Road Scholar trips! Thanks Edie! (and Mike, Mike, Mike)

(5)

Our program, The Rose Parade: A Heritage to Celebrate was excellent! If you have watched the parade on TV, I believe you will enjoy this program. The “up close” and “behind the scenes” experiences were incredible!

(5)

Each trip I have taken with Road Scholar has been well organized and a great experience. I went on the Rose Parade trip as I had done it as a child growing up in California. Now the parade route has bleachers and many more people attending. We also got to help decorate the floats and did side trips to the Getty museum and Band Fest. We celebrated New Years with the group and it was a great way to bring in the New Year. I am looking forward to my 2 trip later this year!!!

(5)

So many interesting talks, great way to learn the history of an American Icon.

I love my RS trips as I explained to my family - a six days trip I don't worry about driving, cooking, washing a dish or even making a bed! The Hilton was a dream with fluffy pillows on top of large king size beds. But you don't get to sleep in on this trip (luckily I still work so getting up at 5 AM is easy for me) with good coffee & tasty meals with sweet desserts that was a daily treat! All 475 of us strangers organized in color coded teams as we went to the float barns, the BandFest, a delightful speaker who teaches the judges, & a lovely lunch I reserved at the Getty Museum with my new friends. You had a designated ticket on the Parade route with a handy restroom behind you so you don't feel overwhelmed. I found each day was a great learning experience with our fabulous Leader Jenny! Thank you RS!

I love traveling with Road Scholar. I've been on 8 trips so far and have never been disappointed.

(5)

This was the best trip we ever took. We loved getting to decorate floats, meet a variety of participants in the parade (float builders, float judge, former Rose Queen, "White Suiter" volunteers, equestrians), and getting to see the floats up close. We have a whole new appreciation for the parade we've loved all along!

(5)

This was my first Road Scholar trip, but it won't be my last! Fabulous experience!

(5)

I was apprehensive about being a solo traveler but always wanted to see the Rose parade. Road Scholar matched me with a wonderful room mate and made this the most unforgettable trip of my lifetime. Thanks for letting me check this off my bucket list. On to my next adventure.

(4)

Totally enjoyed this well prepared program with many highlights & perfect weather...a great way to begin the new year!

(5)

Since the Rose Parade is presented only once each year, our group of participants was larger than I would normally prefer. Seeing how well it was handled by the Road Scholar staff, I would expect an even greater experience with a smaller group. I am looking forward to another "tour" & would recommend Road Scholars very highly.

(5)

The Rose Parade experience was WONDERFUL! The chance to help decorate a float was very educational and loads of fun. It enhanced the actual Parade experience. I will never watch the Rose Parade on TV in the same light again.

(5)

This program not only enabled me to fulfill a lifelong dream of helping to decorate a Rose Parade float, but it also provided knowledge about various aspects of the parade and of roses in general!

(5)

If you like me wanted to fullfill a bucket list dream of attending the Rose Parade then look no further! Road Scholar is an expert at making sure you fully experience every aspect for this glorious experience!

(5)

I chose the 2019 Rose Parade program because this was a bucket list trip for my wife. This was a perfect combination of experiences and learning which made my wife very happy. Experienced all the fun without once worrying about the details / logistics of the trip. Hats off to Road Scholar.

(5)

The Rose Parade trip is outstanding. A sure bucket list experience. It was fun from start to finish. I would highly recommend it.

(4)

I thoroughly enjoyed this program and will never look at The Rose Parade the same after learning what goes on and also working behind the scenes to make these beautiful floats. Great program!!

(5)

The Rose Bowl Trip should be on everyones Bucket List. An extraordinary opportunity to participate in all aspects of Parade, Bands, and Floats from beginning to end

(5)

This is best way to experience The Rose Parade as learning background tibits one can not read in a book Speakers are experts in their field where you can get great insight
