While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our published materials, programs are typically advertised more than a year prior to their start date. As a result, some program activities, schedules, accommodations, personnel, and other logistics occasionally change due to local conditions or circumstances. Activity Note
Hotel check-in & Program Registration - (3:00pm-5:00pm) - Hotel Lobby Welcome Reception (Light Refreshments & Cash Bar) - (5:00pm-5:30pm) - Hotel Lobby Buffet Dinner - (5:30pm-7:00pm) - Hotel Dining Room Participant Group Orientation - (7:00pm-7:30pm) - Hotel Parlor Small Group Breakout Sessions - (7:30pm-8:00pm) - Various Breakout Space Locations
Afternoon:
Program Registration and Hotel Check-In is held between 3:00pm-5:00pm in the hotel lobby. All guests are encouraged to check-in to their hotel accommodation with hotel staff at the front desk upon arrival. Once checked-in proceed to the Road Scholar table located in the hotel lobby to register with program staff and receive your program materials. Late arrivals will proceed to the hotel front desk to check-in and receive program materials. Welcome Reception begins at 5:00pm in the hotel lobby lounge. Complementary canapes and refreshments will be provided, alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, cocktails) will be available for purchase at the Lobby Lounge Bar. The Welcome Reception is an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow participants, getting to know others in the program.
Dinner:
A buffet dinner will be served in the Athenaeum Hotel Heirloom Restaurant from 5:30pm-7:00pm. The buffet will include a wide array of offerings curated by the Athenaeum Hotel Executive Chef. Offerings will incorporate general dietary restrictions. Participants are strongly encouraged to report specific dietary restrictions/allergies in the Personal Information & Preferences Form.
Evening:
Participant Group Orientation will be held after dinner concludes in the hotel Parlor room between 7:00pm-7:30pm. Orientation will begin with brief welcome remarks from the Chautauqua Institution President or Hotel Leadership Team Member. Immediately following the welcome remarks, the Road Scholar Head Group Leader will introduce the Road Scholar staff and provide brief program highlights. Small Group Breakout Sessions will be held in various meeting locations in the hotel. Road Scholar participants will be assigned to a color group by their group leader during registration. These small groups will meet in their assigned locations after the large Group Orientation concludes. Breakout Sessions will cover program materials to include schedules, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and serve as an initial meet and greet with other participants. Light refreshments will be provided in the hotel lobby once all meeting sessions conclude to encourage participants to continue to get to know each other before retiring to your room for the evening.
Activity Note
Walking short distances to and from lecture venues within and near the Athenaeum Hotel. Transportation is included, expect to board/exiting shuttle buses. Light walk around grounds to explore bookstore/shops and attend nature walk. Light physical activity for afternoon electives (chair yoga). The extent and duration of activity levels during free time are contingent on your personal preference and are not required.

Morning:
Morning speaker lectures will begin promptly at 8:30am in one of the various meeting space locations. A mid-morning break will begin at 10:30am. The morning lecture platforms will conclude at 12:00pm. Each color group will be assigned to a location, rotating throughout the week to ensure all speakers are experienced. Each speaker will have a topic of which they are an expert providing an intellectual discourse and Q&A opportunity.

Athenaeum Hotel Dining Room (12:00pm-1:30pm). Manhattan Deli Style Lunch Buffet
Afternoon:
Once lunch concludes, a second session of AFSA representative lectures will commence beginning at 1:30pm and ending at 3:00pm. Afternoon optional electives will be offered beginning at 3:30pm and will include offerings such as chair yoga, nature walks throughout the grounds, guided historical bus tours of Chautauqua, or free time to explore the grounds on your own.
Dinner:
Athenaeum Hotel Dining Room (6:00pm-7:30pm). Hot Dinner Buffet (Thursday Evening Prime Rib Carving Station)
Evening:
Evening entertainment offerings will take place in the hotel Parlor room Monday-Thursday nights beginning at 7:30pm. The diverse evening entertainment offerings range from classical to jazz music performances, movie night, dance performances, and play readings.
Activity Note
Getting on/off buses; riding on Chautauqua campus. Extent and duration of walking and other activities during free time according to personal choice.

Activity Note
Hotel check-out by 10:00am, guests are encouraged to check-out before the 9:00am program begins. Bell Staff will hold guest luggage until departure. Guests utilizing the round-trip airport transfer accommodation through Road Scholar will be picked up at the hotel at 11:00am. Chautauqua Institution shuttle buses will run throughout the morning providing transportation to parking lot locations.

Morning:
The concluding morning session will begin promptly at 9:00am in the hotel Parlor room for the full group of participants. The final session will serve as a Q&A opportunity with the AFSA presenters. This session will conclude by 11:00am.
Lunch:
Once the Friday morning lecture concludes, all participants are encouraged to pick-up a pre-ordered box lunch from the Road Scholar registration table located in the hotel lobby. These box lunches may be taken with you for your travel back home or enjoyed on the hotel veranda before your scheduled departure.
