Coastal adventure awaits you and your grandchild on Oregon’s diverse and exciting southern coast. Hands-on educational opportunities will open up new worlds of natural history and unique geology for all. You’ll be busy having fun together as you learn how the dunes were formed, hike through trails, learn about a local Native American tribe, fly kites, and make s’mores!

  • Spend time on the beach touching marine life at tide pools, playing on the beach and toasting marshmallows around a bonfire.
  • Fish on a wild and remote section of the Umpqua River, where you will catch and release Smallmouth Bass.
  • Feel the spray of the Rogue River on your face as you race up 32 miles to Lucas Lodge, and then down 32 miles back to Gold Beach. Be sure to keep a lookout for osprey, sea lions, bald eagles, black bears, and other wildlife.
