Hotel check-in available from 3:00 pm. The Road Scholar program information for the evening will be posted in the hotel lobby. Meet the Group Leader at 6 pm in the hotel lobby.
After checking in at the hotel and getting your room, take some time to freshen up and relax before we gather before dinner and Orientation. At the scheduled time, we’ll meet our Group Leader in the lobby and proceed to dinner. Timing may vary based on arrivals.
In the hotel dining room, we’ll have a plated 3-course dinner with appetizer or soup, a main course, dessert, and coffee, tea, and bottled water; other beverages are available for purchase.
Orientation meeting (note: this meeting may be moved to the next morning. The actual time will be announced upon your arrival at the hotel). The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer questions. This is a very active program, involving walking 2+ miles per day, including from the bus to field trip sites and during field trips and climbing stairs at museums and historic sites (not all have elevators). This program is not suitable for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, or other mobility-assistance devices. Buses are not equipped for these devices. The program includes lectures prepared for Road Scholars on diverse topics (more lecture details will be announced in the 2nd mailing; however, lecture topics are subject to change). There will also be presentations by our local experts during included field trips. Periods in the daily schedule labeled “Free Time" and “At Leisure” offer opportunities to make the program more meaningful and memorable while going out to explore on your own, engaging in available activities independently, making new friends among fellow Road Scholars, or simply relaxing. The Group Leader will always be happy to offer suggestions. Program activities, schedules, personnel, and indicated travel times may change due to local circumstances/conditions. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
