Travel Documents for U.S. Residents Due to a recent change in the law, US residents arriving in Mexico by air from the United States need only a valid passport that does not expire within six months of your travel dates. When you land, your passport will be stamped at immigration, and that stamp serves as your official permit to stay—no separate tourist card is required. Travelers with other nationalities should check with their embassy or with Mexican immigration directly for the most up-to-date entry requirements. We also recommend carrying a photocopy of your passport and other required documents and storing them separately, in case the originals are lost or stolen.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Ex-Hacienda San Xavier in Guanajuato, Gto.

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:30 p.m. Program Registration; 7:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner; Day 2 9:00 a.m. Orientation.

Getting to the site: Independent Airport Taxi Transfer Instructions: NOTE: Please inform our Geronimo office if you plan to transfer with a taxi by sending an email no later than 30 days before program starts to reservations@geronimotravel.com to maintain the Group Leader updated with your arrival. 1. Arrival at Del Bajío International Airport. 2. Process through Immigration, Baggage Claim and Customs. 3. Proceed to the area outside the arrival gate. 4. Locate a Taxi Booth inside the airport to purchase a ticket provides you a ride in a government sealed taxi and fare to the hotel. (Approximately 600 pesos) 5. Show the flyer with hotel information to Taxi Driver. (Found in the #2 mailed packet) 6. Transfer to the hotel. (30 minutes) 7. If the service warrants, you may wish to tip the driver at the end of the ride. 8. Identify yourself as a program participant by displaying your Road Scholar / Geronimo Participant Flyer. (Found in the #2 mailed packet) 5. The Special Transportation Service will meet you at the waiting lounge or exit of passengers, displaying a banner with your name 6. Transfer to the hotel, which is approximately 30 minutes 7. Make the transfer payment to the representative upon arrival at the hotel, approximately 800 pesos if the service warrant, you may wish to tip the driver. 8. Hotel Check-in

Getting to the site by train or bus: Buses are available. Check with your travel agent for more information.

Your trip ends on: Monday, March 22, 2027 in Mexico City, D.F. at Hotel Barcelo Reforma

End of Trip: 8:00 a.m. after breakfast; 12:00 Noon hotel check-out.

Getting to the airport: The Group Leader will coordinate the airport transfers for participants that purchased the airfare through Road Scholar. Program Only Option Participants that purchased their own airfare can receive help form the program staff in making arrangements knowing that the cost of the transfer is their own responsibility. Taxis to the airport are available. The cost is about 600 pesos per taxi.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
