Online Lecture: Sacred Architecture of Peru — Pyramids & Temples of the Coast

This was a fascinating lecture. I learned so much! Thank you, Road Scholar, for making online lectures available.

I found Kenneth quite interesting. His first hand knowledge of King Tut's tomb was excellent. I like the interesting tidbits of the new museum in Cairo. Having lived and studied in Central America , I would love to hear his take on the Guatemala and Honduras part of the Mayans. Maybe Rd Scholar could ask if he'd do another session on the subject. Thank you

EXCELLENT!!!

This was a very interesting presentation that augmented my understanding of the topic. I went to Machu Picchu with RS several years ago and we ate dinner atop one of the Lima adobe temples featured in the lecture. I studied anthropology and new world archeology as a college student.

Could not access lecture

Oscar did a great job presenting lots of interesting information on the early Andean cultures! It is a great 'virtual side trip' to take after the online Discover Peru, Machu Picchu & the Inca Empire adventure I took earlier this year. Oscar got a lot of information presented in the scheduled 1 hour lecture and I appreciated that he continued for an extra 20 minutes or so to get all the material covered. Really amazing that it was free, I donated $25 after the lecture since I got so much out of it.

This was a very interesting educational presentation that was very informative and I was surprised that there are so many pyramids up and down the costal area of Peru that date back almost 5000 yrs and being in such good condition as well. Very fascinating.

This was an excellent introductory program delivered by a deeply-engaged scholar immersed in the material. It provided me a framework through which to view the rise of multiple coastal Peruvian cultures - helping me to more deeply understand the rich cultural heritage of this fascinating country.

This presentation was outstanding! I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in South American history, culture, and architecture. The lecturer was fascinating to listen to and outlined his topic in an easy-to-follow order.

Sacred Architecture of Peru--Pyramids and Temples of the Coast is a wonderful introduction to ancient Peru and its many civilizations dating back thousands of years. Professor Oviedo Velasco is engaging, knowledgeable and brings ancient Peru alive with his use of visuals. This is a great overview lecture.

Astounding and chronological history of Peruvian archeology.

If you thought that the Incas were the only advanced civilization to inhabit Peru, guess again! This lecture covers thousands of years of pre-Incan people whose art and architecture were just as noteworthy as the Incas'. A fascinating and very well presented lecture!

Thought I knew a bit about Peru but this lecture proved it was just a little bit. Oscar Oviedo Velasco presented a fact-filled, illustrated, lecture and more information than I thought you could fit into a one hour lecture.

Oscar is an excellent presenter. Very organized and interesting with great visuals. I look forward to working with him again!

Great survey of Peruvian archaeology & history, including the factors that influenced various cultures & practices, very well presented.

Good Peruvian history

After this presentation I went to my Peruvian photos and spent an afternoon remembering the sites, people and festivals I experienced while traveling in this amazing country. A very happy afternoon. Thank you
