From Neanderthal ritual caves to the Oracle at Delphi to Aboriginal Australian songlines, this lecture will examine diverse cultural and historical examples of sacred spaces. Discover what makes these landscapes holy and how they reflect the values of the societies that revere them. Dr. Weiner will also discuss contemporary sacred sites, including U.S. National Parks, and the ongoing significance of these powerful places in shaping human belief and identity.

Loved this lecture! Robert did a great job defining sacred so that I could separate it from my own biases. His spectrum of natural, blended, and fully-built was very helpful and something I had not considered before. He did a wonderful job presenting and also at answering questions. Thank you for providing this lecture.

This is an outstanding online program about sacred landscapes across the globe and through time, with useful frameworks that can be applied to additional sacred landscapes. Very well organized, with excellent visuals. The instructor did a good job responding to some of the many questions, to the extent time allowed.
