At a Glance
This three-part online lecture series will examine the fascinating world of chemistry in our everyday lives. Join Northwestern University Chemistry Professor Karl Scheidt as he explores the science behind the phenomena we encounter daily. In this first of three presentations, we will explore biocatalysis, also known as enzymes. Enzymes play major roles in our everyday lives, from a simple lump of dough rising to our own bodies and even creating new fuels from biomass. Discover the fundamentals of enzymes: what they are, where they come from, what they do and how we can’t live without them!

I loved this Zoom lecture on enzymes and how they are used. Karl Scheidt brought back some chemistry to me without scaring me to death! He made it simple and understandable without dumbing it down. I have signed up for his next 2 lectures on the chemistry of pharmaceuticals and in the kitchen. A++++
