Don't miss this trip. My views of New Orleans and Acadiana were completely changed. You will enjoy fascinating field trips, learn about a part of the US that has a very different history from the rest of the country, and most enjoyably, you will meet wonderful people that love to share their culture.

On the Road: Cuisine & Culture in Acadiana Louisiana was a FANTASTIC program! If you are at all interested in Louisiana culture & history, the you should take this program!! Lyndel Brauninger, our Group Leader, was warm, knowledgeable, and great person to introduce us to Louisiana culture & history. We experienced unique activities such as the Zydeco breakfast in Breaux Bridge and the swamp tour on the bayou in Cajun country!!

This trip was wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed the music, the different foods and fun activities. The Zydeco breakfast, the first night jazz performance and the swamp tour were especially memorable. I also left with a new perspective on American history and an appreciation of Acadiana.

Lyndel was a wonderful, thorough and knowledgeable guide. She made my 1st time in New Orleans memorable indeed. She really helped me decide that I need to return there and discover more ! The content of the program was packed with not enough down time I think so it should be extended by 1 or 2 days.

This trip delivered on every level. Lyndel Brauninger, our guide was delightful and knowledgeable. She made everyone feel at ease. The additional experts and speakers were top-notch. Even our bus driver was charming! This was my first bus tour, and I was impressed by the ease with which our group was handled and transported. Other R.S. reading lists have disappointed, but "Bayou Farewell" and "The Cajuns: The Americanization of a People" were top-notch. (I'd also recommend "Gumbo Tales" for those especially interested in NOLA cuisine, and Robert McCammon's "Gone South" for people who enjoy noir-ish potboilers steeped in local color. "The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea" is also excellent.) Reading these added real depth to my experiences on the tour. Acadian Louisiana and its people found their way into my heart. I think my next vacation may be in Bayou Country!

This is a wonderful and fast-paced program showcasing the history, culture and cuisine of Louisiana with a focus on the Acadiana region. The Zydeco Breakfast was a highlight for me. Our program leader, Lyndel Brauninger, a native New Orleanian, was very welcoming, knowledgeable and organized. I highly recommend this program - bring your energy and walking and dancing shoes!

Catharine – Class of 2013 | Elmer, NJ
Excellent program. Well described in the literature. Consider the typical weather for the time of year you plan to visit Louisiana as we experienced tornado warnings for the area, but luckily they missed us with only rain and high winds on one day which necessitated a change in plans since the bus could not take us into an area with tornado warnings. Had a great time anyway.

Although I live "right next door" in Texas and have been to northern Louisiana many times, I had little insight into the unique culture of the Creole and Cajun areas of the state. This program was really eye-opening and fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

This trip exceeded our expectations. The museums, outdoor activities, historic sites, and nature combined into a comprehensive 8 days of culinary and cultural education. The hospitality of local residents enhances our experience as we traveled the SE part of Louisiana. Our bus driver was also amazing.
