This was the trip of a lifetime! Between the kindness and expertise of our leader, Keith, the guides, all the kind, generous and sincere folks at all of the places we stayed (Flo! and so many others!), the African people, the grand animals and birds, the other members of the group, I am still smiling! Sense of humor of folks is universal!! Thank you!

It was perfect. Our guide Chris was amazing, and each accommodation was perfect for the location. Our guides in each park were knowledgeable and worked hard to get us to as many animals as possible. We managed the Big Five, the Ugly Five, and all three Big Cats. As well as a host of other animals. The staff at the hotels and lodges were amazing, and the food was certainly plentiful. All in all, I found the value of the trip to be excellent, as I had looked at other, more expensive trips, and we were all looking at the same lions and elephants. I am thinking of doing it again during the rainy season, as well as the Southern Africa by Rail trip.

The "Iconic Africa" trip was the absolute best possible safari trip I've done and I've done 3 others. The planning and logistics were spot on and everything ran like clockwork. Our guide, Chris, was outstanding, professional yet approachable, knowledgeable, friendly and super patient with all of us. We were a group of 9 all together and it made a very cohesive group easy to interact and get to know each other. The accommodations were spot on and we experienced different options from very nice tent camping to super luxe beautiful rooms w/ private pools and a few in-between but were all super comfortable and I always felt very safe at all times. The best part of course were the twice daily game drives to find animals in their own habitat doing what they do on a daily basis. The guides were very good at finding them and allowing us to view them at safe and comfortable distances but easily observed and in my case photographed. We had 2 land cruisers and or boats equipped with easy and comfortable seating so they were able to accommodate the mammal seekers and the bird watchers to make us all happy.. Road Scholar and Explore knocked it out of the ballpark on this trip but I fell in love with Africa again and now working on how and when I can return..

This was the best trip of my life! The number and variety of animals and the diverse landscapes seen far exceeded my expectations. I came away with a better understanding of Africa and its place in the world, particularly after our wonderful guide gave presentations on the history, culture, and political systems of the countries we visited. Our drivers and boat captain also answered endless questions and shared experiences growing up in these countries. Staff at all the places we stayed were warm, welcoming, and made every effort to pamper us. If you have ever wanted to see Africa, this trip is for you!

I saw animals that I only saw them in TV, magazines and movies. It was wonderful to see them real in their own environment.

This was my first Road Scholar trip and a bucket list item. It was incredible. Our guide, Lisa Reed was outstanding. Her lectures were informative and enhanced my understanding of the ecosystem and the politics and history of each country we visited. After doing safaris in Southern Africa which were wonderful, I was a bit shocked by the crowds in Kenya. However, when all was said and done, some of my favorite moments took place there, albeit with 20+ other game-drive vehicles present. We watched a cheetah go after a baby Topi (unsuccessfully). Shortly after, we saw a lion hunting a baby gazelle. But, also, there were many small moments like seeing a young elephant scratch its belly on a low tree branch or giraffes looming over trees like something out of Jurassic Park. The whole thing was so memorable. I highly recommend this trip. Five stars.

One of the best experiences of my life! In general, the trip was well organized, and ran quite smoothly. The food and accommodations were excellent and the staff at each camp was outstanding. Our guide, Lisa, was incredible, fun, and very accommodating. Her knowledge of the cultures, animals, birds and plants, was impressive. She navigated the minor hiccups skillfully. Our tour group was genuinely fun to be with and get to know. I have only two negative comments. 1. There were several days that were over-scheduled with a combination travel and activities. 2. This is a very low physical activity trip. Other than getting on and off the safari vehicles, you spend a lot of time sitting. As someone who walks 4-5 miles a day, I would have enjoyed some hikes/walking tours where it was safe to do so. Fortunately one of our drivers/local guides arranged a couple of walks with an armed park ranger for a group of us upon request, which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this trip.
