Online Lecture: President Lincoln’s Visit to Gettysburg — Mysteries & Conundrum

Road Scholar’s program on Lincoln’s visit to Gettysburg was absolutely terrific. Dr. Gottfried has a real knack for turning what you think you already know into something fresh and eye-opening. What struck me most was how he took this famous moment in American history and made it feel personal. Lincoln’s trip, which we often think of only in terms of the Gettysburg Address, turned out to be a much bigger story full of small details, odd twists, and a good bit of mystery. Dr. Gottfried walked us through it all in a way that was clear, engaging, and genuinely fun to follow. By the end, I felt like I understood Lincoln’s visit not just as a historic event, but as a human one. It was a wonderful presentation, and I came away with a deeper appreciation for that brief but powerful chapter in our history.

Fabulous program. You will learn a great deal more than you knew about the Gettysburg National Cemetery, the people buried there, the whole event where President Lincoln came to speak, etc. The lecturer is fantastic, easy to listen to, and a knowledgeable scholr. Highly recommend this program.
