Interesting program! Never knew how Easter Island got its name.

Fascinating presentation. Years ago I read everything I could find about this area, but this presentation provided new information.

Nicole is a great speaker and very knowledgeable on the subject. I had so little prior knowledge of Easter Island that this lecture really increased my understanding. Her love for the island and its people was very evident. Her slides were exceptionally good. It was nice to hear at the end of the talk that the islanders have recovered, to a large extent, from the damage of colonization. And that it is this legacy from their ancestors that forms the basis of a livable economy for them now.

An excellent overview of Easter Island and the current understanding of its history and the unique practices of its inhabitants. Highly recommended!

Nicole was extremely knowledgeable on the Moai's of Easter Island! I learned so much during this lecture about the island, the history and the mystery surrounding the Moai's.

This was a great lecture. I had no idea there were so many Moais (statues) on the island. The Rongorongo was very interesting and I had not heard of that before. The presenter was very knowledgeable and and did a great job with her presentation showing us where we were on the island and what she was talking about. Thank you Road Scholar for another great lecture!

Interesting presentation on the history and mystery behind the stone large head statues on Easter Island where many continue to stand today. Nicole Flores is wonderful and very knowledgeable lecturer on this topic, and have been told she also is knowledgeable on many other topics as well.

The Easter Island online lecture was excellent. I learned so much about the history of the island and the statues. The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and held my interest. It was a perfect primer for my visit there later this year.

An excellent way to learn at home

This presentation on Rapa Nui and the stone statues effectively provides the very fascinating background (*historical, geography, cultural) on the statues (maoi and ahu) that many have only seen photos of. I dwwl fortunate to have attended this online Road Scholar presentaton.

This was such an interesting program. Nicole Flores is a wonderful historical speaker who presented both facts and theories without bias. It was a very enjoyable lecture and I learned things about a Easter Island and it's original people that I had very little knowledge of before the lecture.

I just learned how Easter Island was formed, where it is, how to get there, and how long=ago explorers got there. All of this knowledge presented brilliantly by a extremely knowledgeable lecturer.

WOW, I am so glad Road Scholar offered this worthwhile online lecture. I will now consider participating in more online lectures if the speakers are all as good as Nicole Flores. She was thorough, concise, and utilized excellent slides/visual supportive information. I liked that RS made available the taped program for our use; however, I was leaving for Easter Island two days after the lecture and could not re-listen to this great presentation. I think I saw and learned as much about Easter Island as I would have visiting in person.

I’ve always been interested in touring Easter Island. This video lecture with computer animation really helped me understand more about the history of the island, how the indigenous people lived and most interestingly, how the statues were made and positioned.

This was an excellent overview of Easter Island! Very informative, interesting, and fun!

This Easter Island presentation was absolutely fascinating! The instructor was a local with a lot of 1st hand knowledge & an incredible amount of knowledge, which she shared including many graphics. Having closed caption available helped us understand her better.

I highly recommend the lecture of the Eastern Island as it is a fascinating history and it is well described by the speaker. Very visual presentation I felt like I was visiting the island with her.

The program about Easter Island brought to light so many aspects of "how" and "why" to this mysterious place. The instructor was thorough with lots of detailed maps and photos. Loved it!

I got more out of this program than any other I have ever participated in and I highly recommend taking one of these zoom classes whether you travel to the place you are learning about or not. You will have so much more knowledge than you could ever get on a sight seeing trip.
