At a Glance

Alaska is the 49th state in the United States. The struggles and triumphs of its inhabitants offer a fascinating journey through a timeline as diverse as the landscape, spanning from the last Ice Age and the arrival of the first Indigenous peoples to contemporary challenges related to environmental conservation and economic development. Join local expert Jerri Roberts to learn about ancient inhabitants, explore the era of international exploration, delve into the little-known history of Alaska's occupation by the Russian Empire and explore modern challenges that affect those who occupy this wild territory.
