Rediscover your love of drawing, sprinkled with a little history for good measure. Join architect Mark Kean for a hands-on experience learning to sketch the Parthenon. Why has this landmark persisted from antiquity to today? Learn about the rules, elements and harmony of Classical architecture and design while sketching the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the patron saint of Athens — the goddess Athena. Today, half of this landmark’s surviving sculptures now reside in the British Museum. But did you know that there’s also a full-scale Parthenon in Nashville that was built in 1897? To make the most out of this lesson, visit https://www.roadscholar.org/sketching for important resources and details. Then, you’re all set to partake in this virtual draw-along lesson with Professor Keane, one in a series of learn-to-draw, “history at hand” events.
