Very fun trip with my grandson and his parents. Got to see touristy "highlights" (Capri boat tour, excellent). Honestly though, the town of Sant'Agata sui due Golfi, down the hill from our hotel will be my favorite memory.

What an amazing tour to such a beautiful place in the world. Road Scholar pulled back the curtain to let us capture an intimate view of Italian life, culture, and history. Before joining this tour, I had my doubts about a curated and guided tour like this as compared to traveling on my own, however this was the right blend of guided tour and flexibility and has left me better prepared for a future trip to Italy.

Dear Road Scholar organizers, This week my granddaughter (15) and I returned from the family/grandparent/grandchild trip to the Amalfi/Sorrento coast. The hotel O Sole Mio was excellent, the leaders Domenico and Irene were well-prepared and attentive, the special guides and lecturers were great, and the locations were gorgeous. We both had a great time and made new friends. Now a couple of negatives. 1. The program rating was a 4/very active and I knew I would be challenging myself to keep up. If there had been a more detailed explanation of how rough the trails would be, I might have decided against the trip. I'm 74 and in reasonably good shape, but I'm short, and and even with a hiking stick it was very difficult for me to navigate the steep stone stairs on the trails which were very rough. Even with people helping me, I could barely climb and step down some of the blocks of stone nearly 3 feet tall. Similar difficulty with some of the roads and curbs in Pompeii, combined with the pace of the tour that barely allowed one to look around or take a photo. Folks should be cautioned that the Italian park service does not maintain trails like the U.S. National Park Service does. Even when there is a railing, it is sketchy. 2. While the lead guide Domenico is very knowledgable about the area and the context of each activity, he needs to give a bit more attention to his tone when he is encouraging us to keep up the pace because we are on a schedule. I'll be dreaming of the beautiful hills and coastline for quite a while.
