Online Lecture: Juneteenth — An Opportunity for Education Through Celebration

I just happened to find these online classes while looking at this year's trip offerings, and very glad I did. This is the first of two that I signed up for and hoping the second will be just as interesting.

I found it interesting and educational. Info that should be taught in schools as part of American History.

It is so important, to know all our history. Our Country will continue to prosper from the truth, strength comes from diversity, not division.

This scholarly yet accessible presentation by Dr. Brown highlights the Juneteenth celebration as a countercultural way to present history to people of color who have for years suffered misrepresentation from white historians, authors and illustrators. The video he presented was difficult for me to watch, but served as a needed corrective to the history I was taught as a child.

Great information from a friendly, knowledgeable instructor. Well worth your time!

This was my first experience attending an on-line lecture with Road Scholar and I am indeed looking forward to attending others in the future.
