Santiago de Compostela has long been revered as a site for pilgrimages — but how does one get there? Join a local historian and anthropologist for a three-day, virtual journey through Spain along some of the “caminos” that lead to this important city. Each day, follow a different route and along the way, discover spectacular views, castles perched on rocks, amazing works of art, prehistoric caves, medieval monasteries, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and much more. Follow the most popular Camino Frances that stretches from the French border through Pamplona and Castile, the stunning Camino del Norte which winds along the scenic northern coast, and the lesser known Via de la Plata, the longest route from Andalusia to Galicia. Get to know your fellow Road Scholars as you engage in a panel discussion on life in Spain today and take in a lecture on Spanish wines and gastronomy.

Best of all, you’ll…

  • Discover the Camino Frances — the French Way that stretches from the French border at Roncesvalles through Pamplona and Castile — on a virtual field trip.
  • Join your expert for a virtual field trip through the regions of Basque Country, Asturias and northern Galicia as you explore the Northern and Primitive Ways.
  • Enjoy a virtual exploration of the longest pilgrimage route to Santiago — the Mozarabic Way— and the coastline of Cape Finisterre.
