This program offered a diverse, educational, and fun experience in Mexico. The lectures, field trips, authentic Mexican restaurants, cooking classes, and having extraordinary guides in Luis and Yarima provided for a lovely week.

A very well curated food and cultural tour. Hands on cooking classes are excellent. Other tasting opportunities and demos are fantastic. This trip offers a very broad range of eating experiences from do it yourself tacos in a market, a real "farm to table" lunch at a farm, to Michelin recognized restaurants. If you like Mexican food, this one's for you.

Road Scholar is an excellent organization. I have completed two trips with this organization, which I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from. The experiences and the knowledge I have gained are priceless to me. I plan to continue booking future tours with Road Scholar for as long as I can. If you value continuing education and gaining new experiences regarding foreign cultures, book a tour now! You will not be disappointed.

The Flavors of Mexico program in Oaxaca was a fantastic experience. We enjoyed everything from upscale restaurants to truly local, authentic spots, which gave the trip a great balance. All of our accommodations were centrally located, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The food was consistently delicious, and each cooking class had its own unique style and flavor; no two were alike. The lectures and field trips were also incredibly informative and added meaningful context to the culinary experiences. I’d definitely recommend this program to anyone who loves food, culture, and meaningful travel. It’s clear that a lot of care went into planning every detail, and the whole experience really came together beautifully.

My previous Road Scholar trips were hiking trips so a culinary trip was very new to me. It was fantastic and very immersive (think hands in the mole - with gloves). Oaxaca and Puebla are beautiful old cities and I felt very safe. Every day was active with visits to archeological and historic sites. And the food....... amazing!

Excellent program and the best group leader we have ever had on 8 RS trips - If you get Haydee consider yourself very lucky!!! You truly do get to experience Mexican cuisine on this trip and Mexico is an amazing place with an amazing history, chock full of friendly people. The only thing you should really prepare yourself is the very large group size (23?, plus the group leader, assistant group leader, and local expert), which can make it challenging to see and get involved what the guide is talking about, and very large group sizes just slow things down too much. And for some reason, they chose the smallest bus possible for the group size, making for very cramped and uncomfortable rides on long trips between stops. Overall, though, a great program and highly recommended!

I just returned from the Road Scholar Culinary Adventure in Oaxaca and Puebla. I went on the trip with my very vibrant 89 year old mother. We had such a wonderful time with the people in the group and in Mexico. The leaders of our group (Haydee and Alejandra) took such good care of us. They fostered a cohesive group dynamic. The two very different cooking classes we had were quite entertaining and creative. The tour guides informative, the towns full of culture and lovely crafts. The historic hotel where we stayed in Puebla was lovely and right in the center of town. We had such fun with the group, that we would love to have a reunion trip where the entire group is together again in another local in Mexico.

I am happy to learn the history the culture and the foods . Love the vibrant colors of the building the clothes they wears. People gathered in the parks singing dancing the dogs friendly no need leash (we don’t have this freedom in the states).

The culinary tour was great. The team leader, Arturo Vetriz and his buddy Roberto, made the trip informative and comfortable. Although food was the main topic, we enjoyed the archeological sites which proved to be equally important and the culinary and historical were well matched.

This trip was a great way to learn about Mexican food, history and cultural traditions, with a particular emphasis on Oaxaca. We saw most of the sites in and around Oaxaca and had time on our own for restaurants of particular interest to us. There was time to explore the shops as well. Super fun trip for foodies!

I enjoyed the dancing, however several persons left as the dancer were changing outfits. A Shorter time may be more appropriate.

The Flavors of Mexico was wonderful. I appreciated learning about the history of Meso America, the visits to the archeological sites and the hands-on experience of learning to prepare a variety of Mexican dishes. The culinary food system of Oaxaca was equally fascinating.
