Getting on/off a minibus. Coach to Capracotta is 11 miles and takes about 30 minutes; coach back to Agnone is 11 miles and takes about 30 minutes. Walking up to 3 miles throughout the day with extended periods of standing during site visits; loose gravel, stone pavers or cobblestones, mostly level urban stone pedestrian-only sidewalks, unavoidable steps.
At our hotel, breakfast buffet choices include fresh fruit, yogurt, rolls, pastries, muesli, jam, honey, butter, and a selection of hot and cold beverages including juice and water.
We will join a local expert for a historical walk of the center of Agnone, "Città d'Arte." In the late morning, we will ride to Capracotta to visit an agriturismo.
At the Casa Mastronardi, a working agriturismo for farm-to-table fare, we’ll enjoy a locally-sourced and prepared meal, with an antipasto served family-style and option for second courses. Water and coffee are included; other beverages are available for purchase.
Following lunch, we visit the family-owned agriturismo to explore their vegetable gardens, vineyards, livestock, and bee hives. We'll also hear family stories, learn about honey production and pasta making. Whoever wants to participate with the pasta or dessert making can do so. In the late afternoon, we drive back to Agnone where we will gather in the meeting space for a general introduction to Italian. We’ll learn how to greet people, order a coffee, ask directions, and more. where our Group Leader will lead an elective walk to the hillside. Those who prefer to return to their accommodations to rest may do so.
At the hotel restaurant, we’ll have a plated and served meal with water, coffee, and a glass of wine or beer; other beverages available for purchase.
