Getting on/off public transportation. Walking approximately 1.5 miles throughout the day; generally flat terrain.
At the hotel, the breakfast buffet offers choices such as an egg dish, sliced cold cuts, cheeses, hot and cold cereals, breakfast breads, jams, fresh fruit, milk, coffe, water.
We will be joined at the hotel by a local expert who will present a lecture on Milan as an economic capital and the “driving engine” of Italy. We will then leave with our Group Leader to explore the city center by foot and get familiar with the public transportation. We will then visit the Museum of Teatro alla Scala, one of the most prestigious theaters in the world, inaugurated in 1778. Here, all composers and musicians enter on tiptoe and, if they are appreciated, come out famous and accomplished artists, composers, singers, and dancers.
At a local restaurant, we’ll have a plated meal with wine and water included; other beverages available for purchase.
We will visit the Duomo, the symbol of Milan and the sixth-largest cathedral in the world, on which construction was started in the 14th century, but the project, including its amazing façade, was only completed in the 19th century. We will have also some time on our own to enjoy the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and live the culture of the locals. The Galleria is considered the parlor of the city, where business managers meet to relax and sip an espresso, and a center of Milanese luxury shopping.
This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.
