Having been to Colonial Williamsburg a number of times previously, we felt that if it was a person's first (and possibly only) time there, the schedule of the Road Scholar program was too tight. There was not enough time on your own to truly "experience" the restored area. The amount of free time did not allow for time to wander the streets, attend some of the programs scheduled by CW, and take tours of the various buildings - all of which enhance one's experience. Additionally, several participants had to miss the event held the morning of check-out due to travel considerations. Everything needed to be wound up the final night. The program itself was excellent and we learned much, however, from our personal experience, we knew to come in early and stay over a day or so. If Road Scholar is going to leave the program as currently scheduled, emphasis needs to be placed on the advisability of taking advantage of the option to add additional days beyond the actual Road Scholar programming.

Oh boy! A RS highlight. Educational, entertaining, active and varied. Colonial Williamsburg was beautiful and the Grand Illumination activities spectacular. Docent led visits to sites in the historic area and field trips to plantations and local historic sites were well done and informative. Historical interpreters and musical programs at the Williamsburg Lodge were especially moving and inspirational. The Lodge was VERY nice and located within walking distance to all historic area activities; off-sites were reached by pleasant motor coach. Food was delicious and plentiful. And our group leader, Christi Pancoast, a life-long educator, went above and beyond. Professional, personable, patient and participant-focused. She made a point of making each of us feel welcome, included and special -- as individuals, not just as a group. She elevated a special program into an "extra special program." Each day was full and on-the-go but manageable. Christi made sure we were always comfortable and accommodated. Thanks, RS, for another value-added, first-class adventure.

Christmas at Colonial Williamsburg gave life to the historical events of pre and revolutionary USA and beginning of our country. I have not liked history before this trip. It was so interesting and captivating my attention as well as featured excellent leader and activities.

I've been to many Road Scholar programs and they never disappoint & this one was no exception. The speakers, the musicians & the characters are so enthusiastic about Williamsburg's history that I was swept up in the content & made sense of all that history we learned in school & it all comes alive!! The Williamsburg Lodge is comfortable with way too many beautiful Christmas trees to count. The group leader, Chrisi was amazing at meeting the needs of a very diverse group during a fast moving program. Come prepared for a BIG dose of Christmas spirit! I loved every minute!
