Engaging, informative presentation and trip events. Great tour leader, who currently does all the tours in Bermuda. Bermuda is very humid, so be warned. Light, loose-fitting clothes are a must.

Tim Rogers is an outstanding guide. The tour covered every aspect of Bermuda (the natural world, art, history, government, culture etc.) and Tim had in-depth knowledge of all of it. The docents at the sites we visited and the guest lecturers, were all very good. The pacing was just right, as was the length of the tour. The accommodations were good. I would stay at that resort again.
This trip had a feeling to it that I have not experienced on other trips. It seems as if Tim knows everyone on the island, and he is actually personally involved at a high level in many organizations that shape its culture. The people whose homes we visited are also very much a part of Bermuda. Everyone I encountered was warm and friendly. It's a small, safe, beautiful place. So, I felt a kind of connection to the island. I had a wonderful time and will definitely recommend this tour to others.
I give this trip 5 stars.

Bermuda with Road Scholar is a lovely visit to heaven on earth.

The trip lived up to all of the glowing reviews we read before taking it. It provided a comprehensive look at Bermuda's nature, culture, and history and was well-paced. Tim Rogers, our guide, was knowledgeable, well-organized, and personable, and used his many connections to enhance the experience. The hotel was convenient and had excellent restaurants and facilities. I would highly recommend the trip.

Our excellent guide is scheduled for lots (if not all) of the 2026 trips. His knowledge and connections make this trip extra-special. Just do not pay for any online Bermuda pass. The official one, tho required, is free!

This trip is a great comprehensive overview of Bermuda: its history, culture, natural history. The trip leader developed this program from his own nearly life-long residency on the island. You will hit all the high points you read about in any good guidebook to Bermuda on this trip with expert interpretation.

Tim Rogers is a wonderful study guide. He is humble but just so personable and knowledgeable, not to mention fun to be with. I highly recommend a trip with Tim.

We learned so much about the history, culture, and both historical and modern issues of this exquisite paradise out in the Atlantic.

Awesome guide! Interesting lectures, beautiful scenery, and lovely accommodations with nice meals. A really great trip.

Bermuda is a relatively small island, but it has a lot of history. I had not known that the founding of Bermuda was linked to the settlement at Jamestown. The program contained an interesting and diverse set of activities, ranging from walking on beautiful beaches and exploring lovely gardens to collecting plankton samples on a boat and viewing the small creatures under a microscope. I have been on many Road Scholar programs. Tim Rogers was far and away the best organized group leader I have ever had. For example, he prepared personalized itineraries for each participant that included color-coded lists of the meals we had ordered in advance. Tim is an expert on many subjects, including Bermuda's history, culture, architecture, foods, and plant life.

Best Road Scholar program we have been on! Active and busy but at a good level for us, with a very accommodating and knowledgeable leader. Beautiful place, excellent food and very good accommodations.
— Review left March 29, 2025
This was an outstanding tour for my wife and myself. Tim Rogers is an exemplary resource. He possesses a wealth of historical and cultural knowledge. He seems to know everyone on the island, and they know him. He has a stellar reputation as one of Bermuda’s top guides. Tim’s decision to move the lodging/dining accommodations to Grotto Bay was spot on. Our room was perfect, with a beautiful water view. The food was excellent, and the entire staff of the resort was a model for customer service.
Tim’s choices for private home/garden tours were great. He personally knows the owners of the properties which permits him to arrange the best locations. The owners and lecturers at each property and museum were experts of their subject in their own right.
We would recommend this tour without reservation.

"Bermuda Unveiled" was a great trip! So many great things to say about this experience, I'm not sure where to start. Tim Rogers, our group leader, was amazing. He is warm, kind, knowledgeable, enjoyable, gracious, just a delight to be with, a person you wish you could keep in your circle of friends. We learned and saw so much and experienced so much in Bermuda - history museums, natural history, nature walks, historic homes and buildings, private gardens and homes, walking tours of towns, expert speakers, botanical gardens, ocean education institutions - all with Tim leading the way. The hotel was comfortable, serving great food. We had a great group of fellow travelers, making for an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this Road Scholar trip.

Great trip! Bermuda is a very special island out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The itinerary was perfect with lot of variety and interesting explorations. Our guide Tim Rogers has lived on the island for over 40 years and seems to know just about everyone that lives there. He is an expert in the history and as a former science teacher shares his knowledge in an engaging manner with enthusiasm. The hotel was recently renovated and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this trip!

We thoroughly enjoyed the planned activities, lectures, free time to explore and our accommodations, as well as interaction with other group members. I would highly recommend this DS program offering!!

Five Stars! This was a wonderful trip. I strongly recommend it as the guide Tim Rogers is excellent! He really knows Bermuda, sets up the best lecturers and is an amazing historian himself. I especially enjoyed visiting private gardens and homes, something we never would have had the opportunity to do without Tim's contacts. Bermuda is a beautiful, magical island with stunning beaches and I look forward to returning. (Just two hours from Boston)

This was a wonderful trip to a beautiful island led by an amazing (and inspiring) guide (Tim).
Everything about this trip exceeded my expectations and there is so much to learn about Bermuda.

Tim provided a well balanced program. He calmly handled individual needs without impacting the group as a whole. The activities provided a well balanced introduction to Bermuda’s history, culture and environment.
Thank you, Pat

My wife and I spent a glorious week in Bermuda in April 2024 guided by the most helpful and knowledgeable guide we encountered on our Road Scholars trips; Dr Tim Rogers.
The venue of our trip was outstanding, the pace and knowledge we learned on our daily outings were amazing. We learned lots about the history, geography and the native plants and animals and their origins in the week we spent there. The meals were very delicious and plentiful especially for an eater like me.
This is my 9th trip with Road Scholars and I rate it the best in learning and enjoyment. But why not! Bermuda is a magical island and the weather was just gorgeous during our stay. The group was very cohesive and friendly and we learned a lot under the guidance of our leader Tim Rogers who was was just great.
— Review left April 25, 2024
Beautiful island, friendly people, fascinating history and Tim Rogers is an amazing group leader. The only negative was some renovation activity at Grotto Bay that created some noise and limited views from the dining room but the renovations will benefit future participants when complete.
— Review left April 21, 2024
Tim Rogers, Group Leader, clearly put his heart and soul into every detail of this trip. Through Tim's skilled approach and lively lectures, we were provided an extremely detailed account of the history and culture of this very beautiful island. Our fellow travelers were just wonderful!

Trip would have been Great but I had bronchitis, caughing all night & sleep all day, the times I did go with my group, great learning abt history of Bermuda. Noticed most of roofs & even inside the establishments were black mold & peeling walls. Weather very damp, cold windy & rainey, not the best time to travel to Bermuda. CUSTOMES VERY FAST & EASY!
— Review left April 12, 2024
Our time in Bermuda with fellow Road Scholars was enjoyable every day. We especially enjoyed our conversations with the other participants.

The activity level was exactly as described.

I've enjoyed visiting other Atlantic islands in the early spring, so off to Bermuda I went! March is off-season due to temperature in the 60's, but no crowds from cruise ships! But be prepared for constant winds! Get a fold-out map from the visitor center so you won't get lost. On your free time, visit the caverns, and see the tidal pools at Spittal Pond where I saw chitons! And diet before the trip as some of the meals are quite plentiful! Plants and architecture were the main emphasis by leader Tim Rogers, who is very knowledgeable, approachable, warm, organized, and humorous.

Bermuda is a wonderful Road Scholar trip. The resident Group Leader has developed a great variety of activities and experiences: scientific, cultural, political, private gardens, natural areas and of course, beach walks.

This was our 3rd Road Scholar trip. All of them have been amazing experiences. This one no exception. Our guide Tim Rogers was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and very easy to talk with. I feel he went over and above my expectations. I hope to do another one sometime.

This program definitely exceeded my expectations. If you’ve never been on a Road Scholar trip before, I’d recommend this one to get your feet wet!
Tim Rogers as a Group Leader is great as well as the accommodations. I would recommend participants with mobility issues request a room closer to Lobby/Restaurant areas. Transportation is provided for those that need it, but may not be the most convenient at times for folks
Overall a great program !
And we had such a great group of participants!

Bermuda's history is so unique that one has to experience it to understand it. The beauty of the island is amazing. Who knew of a place in world without fresh water, yet the Bermudians have created a paradise on a rock in the North Atlantic.
— Review left October 14, 2023
Enthralling talks, stupendous ocean scenery, a gazillion field trips all energetically guided by charismatic leader Tim Rogers.
— Review left October 12, 2023
Our guide was knowledgeable, especially about native horticulture. The itinerary was generally well paced. The hotel had many amenities in a good location with a lovely water view. The hotel restaurant offered a diverse menu and the service staff worked hard to project hospitality.
What worked less well: Presentations on the few native species of flora became redundant. The trip was a little short on Bermuda’s history, which I read about (but too late for this trip.) How Bermuda survived with maritime trade and privateering and its role during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars merited lecture time. I appreciated the free time in Hamilton and St. George, but without city maps and guide recommendations it devolved into aimless wandering. Post-trip I identified interesting (missed) sites that no one mentioned. In our final meeting, the guide projected a list of airport transportation departure times for all guests. I was not listed because I booked my own air. Fine, but I expected him to say something like “I will get with you later…” Nothing, until I made pointed references to his lapse.
Finally, the most unpleasant part of the trip was a male guest who uttered Taliban-like misogynistic pronouncements about women in response to something the guide said. I expected the guide to gently counter this ignorant viewpoint with a positive statement about women, but instead he made additional offhand remarks critical of feminists and expressing an antiquated view of women. We have all made comments that we regret, so I waited for the guide to call me aside and apologize. Nothing. Should RS be reminded that your clientele is majority female, and such behavior by guides is offensive? I have taken numerous trips with other companies, and only RS seems to hire older white males whose express atavistic opinions on gender that are neither appropriate nor welcome. Neither are they the industry standard. Do something.

There is much more to Bermuda than sun, sea and beaches. The island nation has a remarkably unique natural and political history. There is much to see and learn about while there.

What a great program! Group Leader Tim Rogers is absolutely top notch. The accommodations were splendid, both picturesque and comfortable. Food was excellent. You get a chance to see facets of Bermudian life that are not available to the average tourist. February weather is on the cool side, but plenty of things were blooming. March or November would probably be idea. This program managed to be stimulating and relaxing at the same time--no easy feat.

I would recommend the Bermuda experience to anyone who has a love of history, architecture, beautiful scenery and insider locations. If you are lucky enough to have Tim Rogers as your tour guide, your experience will be transcendent. I cannot say enough good things about him and his presenters. The Grotto Bay is a beautiful facility and the meals and service are exceptional to say the least. We had a double queen room which was more than enough space. Don't miss the afternoon teas. My wife highly recommends the spa experience.

Certainly one of the most comprehensive of all the RS programs I have attended . We learnt nearly every aspect of the island from a most knowledgable leader Tim R and his group of expert speakers . Transportation was comfortable , we stayed at a terrific hotel , food was excellent and free time was available to pursue specific interests . A highly recommended excursion !

Tim Rogers as the program leader was superb! His local knowledge and connections made the program highly educational, yet a fun and fulfilling experience. If you have the opportunity to attend this program with Tim I highly recommend it. There may be other program leaders that may be great also, but Tim Rogers is exceptional!

The Bermuda experience is one of the best well rounded programs you can find. You get a lot of history, science, flora and fauna and culture. Plus being lulled to sleep by frogs and awakened by chickens (30,000 of them).

The Bermuda Road Scolar program is delightful. This was our eighth trip and one of the most enjoyable. The history is well presented and the beauty of the country is well presented with Bermudians opening their homes to us. Tim Rogers is a wonderful guide who is both knowledgable and fun and effective in sharing his country and attending to the details that make the trip memorable. the Grotto Bay Resort is a pleasant place to stay, dine and congregate in a beautiful environment.

This is an outstanding program. The lectures and visits were extremely interesting and allowed us to go places we wouldn't otherwise get to as regular tourists. The food and service at the Grotto Bay Resort is excellent. Our leader Tim is exceptionally knowledgeable and a great guide in our explorations. He went out of his way to make group reservations for our free nights. Highly recommend this program.

We learned so much about Bermuda thanks to our wonderful leader, Tim Rogers, and his access to private gardens we could never have found on our own.
— Review left April 14, 2022
Tim Rogers, our main tour guide, is indeed the expert on Bermuda. Under his guidance, and with the help of his other local friends and guides, you will acquire a thorough knowledge of this beautiful country. It is definitely worth visiting; remember to turn off your devices and not access TV in order to focus on the trip's varied sites, including the spa, pool, cave, and fitness center at the resort. Guest services was very accommodating to all requests, including bringing a yoga mat to my room. The low season is an ideal time to visit, as long as you have layers to adjust as the wind can pick up or a shower occur without warning. My gloves and hat came in handy on a few occasions.
— Review left March 13, 2020
An exceptional program with an unusual opportunity to meet prominent, talented residents of Bermuda
— Review left March 12, 2020
I really enjoyed the trip and thought that the Group Leader, Peter did a very thorough job. I feel like I saw a great deal of the island and was exposed to its history, historical sites, and flora and fauna. We visited private gardens along with various public sites. The resort accommodation were quite adequate and the food outstanding. Of note, although not a problem for me, there were lots of steps to climb going back and forth from the main building and the sleeping accommodations. Peter was quick to suggest places to eat when the program did not provide and he also was present at two of the restaurants that my party went to. I was traveling as a solo but that was not a hinderance as I was meant to feel welcome by various of the couples and other solo travelers. I hope to go back to Bermuda another time; its so close to Boston and that flight was under 2-hours.

First hand experience and walking where the Queen herself has walked and sat.
