Activity note: Hotel check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Earlier check-in may be available. Please contact the hotel directly.

Afternoon: Program Registration: Front desk staff will direct you to the assigned conference room where Road Scholar staff will greet you warmly. You will receive your welcome packet containing your name-tag and an up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes. If your arrival is delayed, please ask for your packet when you check in.

Dinner: At the resort, we’ll enjoy a beautiful plated meal with coffee, tea, iced tea and water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: Orientation: The Group Leader will welcome everyone and lead introductions. We will review program schedule and any changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. Continue getting to know your fellow Road Scholars, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the full day ahead.

Breakfast: Each morning at the hotel restaurant, the breakfast buffet will include choices of assorted hot and cold cereals, yogurt, fresh and dried fruit, grits, potatoes, breakfast meats, eggs, assorted breads, pancakes and pastries with juice, coffee, tea and water.

Morning: Get ready for a week of exercise, fun and honing your pickleball skills! We’ll begin with a clinic introducing new players to the game, reviewing the basic strokes the rules, scoring, and effective court positioning. Pros will carefully assess each participant's skill level and will tailor instruction to your needs.

Lunch: Each day this week options of soups, salads, and sandwiches will be provided for lunch at Big Jim’s at Palmetto Dunes.

Afternoon: Supervised round robin play will reinforce the skills learned in the morning clinic.

Dinner: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions. There are hundreds of local restaurants to choose from.

Evening: At leisure.

Morning: Pickleball professionals will review Day 2 activities and answer questions about those elements requiring clarification or reinforcement before leading a clinic focusing on the serve and the return of serve.

Lunch: Lunch at Big Jim's.

Afternoon: Supervised round robin play.

Dinner: Hotel plated meal.

Evening: A staff member from The Coastal Discovery Museum will join us at the hotel to share the remarkable and largely unknown history of Hilton Head Island. From the Indians who called the Island home to the effects of Hurricane Matthew you will learn fascinating facts about the Island that is now home to 38000 residents.

3rd Shot & Dinks

Morning: After reviewing the lessons from the first 2 clinics, today’s instruction will focus on the more difficult and crucial “third shot” and the “dink.”

Lunch: Lunch at Big Jim's.

Afternoon: Free Time. Take this opportunity for personal independent exploration to see and do what interests you most. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions. This is your time to enjoy the facilities of the resort or to explore Hilton Head on your own! Perhaps a round of golf or kayaking? You might enjoy some pampering at a spa!

Dinner: On your own to enjoy what you like.

Evening: At leisure.

Unforced Errors

Breakfast: Hotel buffet.

Morning: The pickleball staff will review the objectives of the first 3 days before leading a clinic focusing on the lob and the overhead. There will also be discussion on how to reduce unforced errors.

Lunch: Lunch at Big Jim's.

Afternoon: Supervised round robin play.

Dinner: At the hotel, we’ll enjoy a delicious plated farewell dinner together with standard beverages. Share your favorite experiences and get ready to bid adieu to new Road Scholar friends tomorrow.

Evening: Enormous Loggerhead Sea Turtles nest each summer on Hilton Head Island's beaches. Come hear more about this fascinating threatened species and the ways that Hilton Head Island – and you – can help them survive. The program will be presented by the Coastal Discovery Museum which assists with the Town of Hilton Head Island Sea Turtle Protection Project.

Pickleball Professional Q&A, Program Concludes

Activity note: Hotel check-out by 11:00 a.m.

Breakfast: Hotel buffet.

Morning: The program will wrap up with a Q & A at the resort with the pickleball staff. This will be the opportunity to refresh yourself on specific points of play or situations you may have encountered during the week. We’ll all leave for home with a new set of skills and new Road Scholar friends! This concludes our program.
