Getting on/off a motorcoach, walking up to 2 miles throughout the day; paved city streets.
After breakfast this morning, we'll board a motorcoach and travel to the Royal heart of London, Buckingham Palace. We’ll explore the area outside the Palace gates, including St James’s Park, the Victoria Memorial, and The Mall (which in this case rhymes with “pal” rather than “fall”!) as we learn more about the past and present lives of the Royal Family in London from our Study Leader. The Changing of the Guard ceremony is a grand display of military pomp that takes place at 11:00 a.m. four times a week, when the Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace Old Guards hand over duty to the New Guard from Wellington Barracks. If a ceremony coincides with our field trip, our Study Leader will identify a good viewpoint from which we can enjoy the iconic parade of Guards dressed in red tunics, gold brocade and bearskin hats, and will explain the significance of this spectacular event. Please note, the Changing of the Guard ceremony may not be available on every departure as schedules are released at very short notice for security reasons.
On your own to enjoy what you like.
We’ll board a motorcoach and ride to the Royal Academy of the Dramatic Arts (RADA) for a very special experience: taking part in a hands-on workshop with two acclaimed West End actors who will lead us through the rehearsal process. This workshop will demonstrate that the rehearsal room is a safe space for exploration and experimentation because it is often during this exercise that important creative decisions are made, directions that would never have come to life without this ability to try new approaches.
At a local restaurant close to the theatre we’ll have a 2-course plated and served meal with coffee, tea, water included; other beverages available for purchase.
