After you enroll, we’ll ask you to provide or update your personal information and preferences, which includes your health information, lodging and meal preferences for your program.

A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

This information about travel documents pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.

United Kingdom

• Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it must be obtained in advance.

• The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.

• Your visa can be secured electronically. You may use the services of our designated visa service, Passport Visa Express, please see details on the process and the price at Passport Visa Express. If you prefer you may secure your electronic visa on your own, see the notes below for details.

Please note: American & Canadian passport holders traveling to or through the United Kingdom will need authorization via the UK Government's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Visa. The application is available online and via the UK ETA App at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta#apply-for-an-eta. You will need your passport information to complete the form. Once received, the application is expected to be processed within three business days. Once you have received confirmation, it will be valid for two years or until your passport expires (whichever occurs first). You must apply before entering the UK.

Ireland

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Station House Hotel in Letterkenny

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 6:00 p.m. Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner

Getting to the site: Available, but not an easy transfer on your own. From the George Best Belfast City Airport, take a bus to the Belfast Europa Bus Centre. Once at the bus center, take a train to the Londonderry station. At the Londonderry station, walk across the river to the bus station and take the bus towards Derry, to the Letterkenny station. From there, walk to the hotel. This transfer will cost approx. €50 and take 4.5 hours. Please check bus and train schedules as they run on limited hours. A taxi for 1-3 people from the airport to the first hotel will cost approximately €240, and take approx. 3 hours. You can book a taxi by contacting www.valuecabs.co.uk.

Your trip ends on: Friday, September 18, 2026 in Shannon at Park Inn by Radisson Shannon Airport

End of Trip: 10:00 a.m. after breakfast, 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out., independent transfers to the airport.

Getting to the airport: From the hotel in Shannon, it is a two minute walk to the airport terminal.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Transfers for Independent Travelers: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” status. However, THE ARRIVAL TRANSFER is an exception to that policy due to the distance and complicated nature of traveling to the first hotel. If you arranged your air with Road Scholar and are arriving early or made your own air arrangements, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival transfer. Reservations for the transfers can be made by contacting the Road Scholar Europe team no earlier than receipt of the first information packet and no later than 30 days prior to the start of the program. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHMENT AT THE BACK OF THIS PACKET FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO PLACE YOUR TRANSFER REQUEST. The transfer schedule will be based on the times of arrival for Road Scholar booked flights and will vary from departure to departure. For those arranging their own air, your arrival flight must arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. in order to be approved to join a transfer. There is no guarantee that the final transfer will coincide with independently booked flights. In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
