At a Glance

The house lights dim, the crowd falls silent, the curtain rises and the spotlight shines on … YOU! You and your grandchild are the stars on stage during a week treading the boards in picturesque Vermont. Learn the secrets of how real theaters operate and what it takes for cast and crew to stage a hit production, then put it all together in a theatrical performance of your own, presented on stage in front of a real live audience.
Activity Level
Keep the Pace
Walking up to two miles on wooded terrain. Paddling a canoe.

Best of all, you'll ...

  • Go backstage and behind the scenes with the Northern Stage Company to learn hands-on about sets, lights, costumes, props, scene painting and sound design.
  • Work with a seasoned actor and playwright to put on a production at the end of the week before a live audience in White River Junction’s own Briggs Opera House.
  • Switch places with the audience to take in an evening musical presentation and spend an afternoon outdoors canoeing down the Connecticut River.

General Notes

Program is for grandchildren ages 8-12.
