A valid passport is required for all participants for the 1,000 Islands study cruise, which makes a stop at Boldt Castle on the US side of the border. U.S. and Canadian citizens will be required to have the appropriate documents. Driving approx. 60 miles; about 2 hours. Getting on/off a boat; about 25 miles on the boat; approx. 3 hours.

Aboard the boat, we’ll have boxed lunches
Explore the 1,000 Islands including Zavikon Island, Millionaire's Row, the St. Lawrence Seaway and the 1,000 Islands Bridge on a cruise with onboard commentary provided by staff. Upon arrival at Heart Island, home of the famous Boldt Castle, go on a self-led walking field trip throughout the grounds and seek out the tragic tale of love and loss that spawned the creation of Boldt Castle. Millionaire proprietor of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, George C. Boldt, wanted to show his wife, Louise, just how much he loved her. He decided to build a replica Rhineland castle in Alexandria Bay on the island he owned, Heart Island, as a testament to his love. But before Boldt Castle could be completed, Louise died, and George abandoned the project.
