If you love trying wines and enjoy food, especially foods from the sea, this is a wonderful adventure for that. Our group was small and allowed for getting to know other participants well. The leader was a lifelong resident from the Ensenada area, and as such, she was able to showcase her town in depth and share her personal experience with us. You will be on the go, and treated to many unique experiences and places. It was a very enjoyable time.

In 2017 I was in Oaxaca and the hotel I stayed at served Mexican wines. I did not realize at the time that Mexico produced wine so I ordered a glass; it was very good! Last year, when I was researching possible Road Scholar programs, I came across "The Bounty of Baja" and almost immediately registered for it. And I am glad I did! We had a mostly congenial group of 14 along with our terrific group leader Jazmin (Jazz). We visited several wineries in the Valles de Guadalupe and Santo Tomas, home to over 100 wineries. My favorites were the Bodegas Santo Tomas (oldest winery in Baja California, 130,000 cases per year) where we had an enjoyable wagon ride through the extensive vineyards, and the small production (330 cases p.y.) woman-owned Tres Mujeres winemaking cooperative, with a tour and delicious lunch. I also enjoyed the chef-inspired cuisine at various restaurants. Mexican food goes way beyond enchiladas! Along the way, we visited museums, workshops and art galleries. I liked the Las Rosas Hotel we stayed at in Ensenada, with great views of the Pacific Ocean. At the end of this enjoyable program, after saying adios to the incomparable Jazz, I decided to come back to Baja next year and do the Road Scholar Gray Whale migration program.

Road Scholar programs gives you an opportunity to explore on your own during the program. During "The Bounty of Baja: Wine, Food and Local Life in the Guadalupe Valley" Program I went with a guide to La Bufadora. La Bufadora is the largest sea geyser in North America and the second largest marine geyser in the world. Fantastic experience!

Wonderful tour! The countryside was beautiful, our guide was great, and the food was amazing. I also found the wine to be better than I thought it would be. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in Mexican wine and gastronomy.

Great trip, wonderful guide, but the usual odd suspects as co-travelers...save for a few.

Great opportunity to explore Baja wines and cuisine. The program is well put together and I can't say enough good about Jazmin our program leader.

This experience is like visiting a friend who shares all their favorite places, providing access to places you probably wouldn’t find reviewed on Yelp. It provides a sense of being inside a community, not just observing it, and it’s every bit as much of a food experience as it is a wine tour, with the history to understand how it has evolved and is challenged to retain its unique culture

Wineries, food, art, history, interesting people sharing their life's passion, all based at a beautiful oceanside hotel with open air breakfasts enjoyed as the pelicans cruise by. Baja needs to be experienced, I think the secret may be getting out. I hope so.

My first trip with Road Scholar was to visit the wine country and learn about the culture and food of Baja California. Jazmin was an outstanding guide, and the trip was excellent. We had a nice combination of cultural, wine, and food experiences. The small group got along well, and added to the whole experience. Will definitely travel with Road Scholar again, and highly recommend others do as well. Start with this trip to Baja California - you won't be disappointed!

Amazingly beautiful trip with great wine and the most creative, fresh food presented like works of art throughout the week. Don’t miss this one!

What a fantastic program. It should be called Gourmet Food Experience and Wine Tasting because I've eaten food in five continents and this was the best food ever. I loved this trip so much that I might go again next spring or figure out how to go back to the area on my own.

This program is a wonderful overview to a very interesting part of Mexico, filled with history and entrepreneurs working to craft an identity for its art, food, and wine industries. The passion of those we met was enlightening and intriguing. The opportunities to enjoy the local food and drink are plentiful and each meal was superb. Our tour guide added so much in terms of background and insight. Highly recommended if you are a foodie, enjoy wine or are just curious. Go before everyone else discovers the joys of Baha!
