All information we obtain regarding health precautions is from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta at 404-332-4559 or www.cdc.gov. Please remember that we are a travel company and are not authorized to prescribe any inoculations or medications. The CDC recommends that your Hepatitis A and B, COVID-19, and routine immunizations (chickenpox, DTP, flu, MMR, polio, shingles) be current. No inoculations are required to enter Italy. If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Michelangelo in Sorrento

Start of Trip:  2:00 p.m. Day 2 hotel check-in; 4:45 p.m. Neighborhood Walk; 6:30 p.m. Welcome Reception; 7:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner.

Getting to the site: To reach Sorrento on your own you have two options: A) Curreri Co. buses depart every hour from Parcheggio P1 (Parking lot P1), located just outside the terminal. The ride takes approximately 1.5 hours, with stops along the way. The ticket costs €10 and can be purchased on board. In Sorrento, get off at the Circumvesuviana train station. There is a taxi stand at the exit of the train station; the fare will be about €15 for the short ride. B) A private car and driver transfer direct from Naples Capodichino Airport to the hotel in Sorrento can be requested and arranged through Sireon Tours (Sorrento) at +39 081 807 1865 or email paola@sireontours.com. The door-to-door service is approximately €180 and must be prepaid using a credit card. Please note that a night supplement of €30 will apply for services between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Getting to the site by train or bus: Sorrento is connected to Naples by a minor railway network called the Circumvesuviana. Naples is on the main railway line that connects major cities in Italy.

End of Trip: 9:30 a.m. after breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: If you purchased the program without airfare through Road Scholar or are arriving in Italy early, please note that a complimentary group transfer from Naples Airport to Sorrento is available only on Day 2 of your program. To secure your spot, please visit our transfer request page and submit your flight details—flight number and arrival time—no later than 30 days before departure. Once your request is received, you will receive confirmation of the exact transfer time, which may be subject to slight adjustments based on airline schedules.
