Getting on/off bus; driving approximately 40 miles; about 1.5 hours. Walking approximately 1 mile in Shepherdstown; about 1.5 hours; primarily paved sidewalks, some uneven terrain.
At the hotel, the breakfast buffet features hot and cold selections, plus juice, milk, coffee, tea, water.
After arriving at Shepherd University by bus, we will meet with Producing Director, Ed Herendeen for an Introduction to the Festival. Following the Introduction we will participate in a Workshop with Dramaturg, Charlotte La Nasa "Understanding the Reading Process in New Play Development".
At a downtown Shepherdstown restaurant, we’ll choose from a variety of salads and sandwich selections, plus coffee, tea, water; other beverages available for purchase.
Next, we will visit the Shepherdstown Library where the group will split into two subgroups. Each will partake in an activity and after one hour, the subgroups will swap activities and follow the opposite schedule. One group will join a local historian at the library for the Shepherdstown Mysteries Talk, during which we’ll sit back and relax as we learn about some of the secrets of Shepherdstown. The other group will walk to visit the George Tyler Moore Center for Study of the Civil War where a member of the staff will lead a discussion on their mission and show us around the facility. We’ll then board our bus and travel back to the hotel to freshen up for the evening.
At the Marinoff Theater, we’ll enjoy a delicious catered buffet dinner with coffee, tea, water; other beverages available for purchase. During dinner, we will have a “Know Before You Go Chat” to talk about details of tonight’s upcoming performance with CATF staff.
Immediately following dinner, we will attend a reading of a play by the playwright at a festival stage. Following the reading, we will take a short walk to another stage to attend this evening's performance. Performance to be announced approximately mid-February. Following the performance there will be a "Talk Back" discussion with the performer before returning to the hotel.
