At a Glance

Get in touch with your inner artist as you spend a relaxing and rejuvenating week in the heart of Missouri’s Ozarks. Under the tutelage of professional art instructors, learn the basic techniques of watercoloring, including brush strokes, texturing and blending. Then, try your hand at painting a portrait, a landscape and a still life painting. Take in the surrounding natural beauty of the nearby lake and woods as you begin to create a sketch book journal and learn the beauty of writing memoirs. At the end of the week, showcase your work for your fellow artists to enjoy.

Brenda Millard Higdon
Born in the Fredericktown area, Brenda Millard Higdon is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She earned her master’s from William Woods University and taught art in the Rolla/Fort Leonard Wood area for 22 years. She then retired and came home to Fredericktown. Of her love for watercolors, she says, “I'm never quite sure what the results will be when I brush it on the paper. That's why I like it. It's never boring and I'm always learning from it."
