Lunch: A light lunch is served in the hotel. Tea, coffee and water included. Other beverages available for purchase.

Afternoon: Arrival in Edinburgh. Private transfers to Edinburgh hotel. Arrivals continue, with free time for those who have already arrived. At 5pm we will have an Orientation in the hotel. Orientation: The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. This program is staffed with both a Group Leader, who will accompany us throughout the program and deal primarily with logistics, and a Study Leader who will lecture, conduct field trips and serve as an information resource on program-related topics. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities and answer any questions you may have. We have set aside some free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. Please note that program activities, schedules and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances; due to the nature of the Edinburgh Festival, timings of performances and blocks of free time are likely to change from the itinerary detailed below, so we recommend that you do not make any independent bookings until the final schedule is announced. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Free time to settle in before a 5:00pm welcome meeting and Introduction to the Festivals by Giles Ramsay.

Dinner: A three-course plated and served dinner in the hotel with coffee, tea, water included; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: At leisure.

Breakfast: Full Scottish cooked breakfast including eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, breakfast rolls, croissants, danish pastries, fruit, juices, smoothies, porridge and cereals, filter coffee, Breakfast, speciality & herbal teas.

Morning: Your Course Director will brief you on the Edinburgh Festivals, what's on and how to make the most of your experience. After the lecture you are invited to join your Group Leader in taking public transport (bus) to the city centre where they will lead an orientation of the major venues for the Festivals. A record-breaking number of shows and performances - 2453 at the Fringe alone, taking place at hundreds of venues spread throughout the city. Festivals include the famous Edinburgh International Festival-- The finest in classical music, theatre, opera and dance gather to present one of the most innovative and accessible Festivals of the performing arts. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe - The largest arts Festival in the world transforms Edinburgh with live theatre and comedy performances in the streets and across over 250 venues around the city. Also see the Edinburgh Art Festival, the Edinburgh International Book Festival-- The largest Book Festival of its kind, with over 700 world-class writers and thinkers taking part in more than 800 events.

Lunch: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like, so that you can make the most of your time in Edinburgh. Your Group Leader and Giles will be on hand to make suggestions for meals, performances and public transport.

Afternoon: Free time. Many performances take place at all times of the day and night and there is much street theatre to enjoy.

Dinner: On your own to enjoy what you like.

Evening: We'll enjoy a performance at one of Edinburgh's renowned venues. Our program was planned far in advance when details of performances were not available.
