At a Glance

Building off of many years of Intergenerational experience, Sagamore's Family Program brings families together in a unique natural setting in the Adirondack wilderness. Together with members young and old (and in between!), experience a memorable adventure tailored to all interests and skill levels while enjoying a fun, educational adventure in a camp that is not a hotel, but a piece of regional and American history.
Activity Level
Outdoor: No Sweat
Walking over one mile a day on uneven terrain. May include walking in shallow stream. Stairs unavoidable.

  • Pick and choose from a wide variety of outdoor activities, such as stream-walking, canoeing, boat-building and restoration, nature-hiking, games or crafts, and music lessons from instructors and artists.
  • Experience lively nights enjoying an old-fashioned barn dance, s’mores around a campfire, stargazing or a night hike into the surrounding wilderness.
  • Spend the week living a piece of Adirondack history, in a wilderness camp once owned by the Vanderbilt family.

General Notes

This is a Family program for participants, their adult children and grandchildren ages 6 and up. For a comparable intergenerational adventure for just grandparents and grandchildren, check out program #4977! Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.
