Experience the grace of old-world adventure on an epic Trans-Siberian Railway journey that carries you across the changing landscapes of China, Mongolia, Siberia and Western Russia on a private train. Begin in China’s capital, Beijing, where you walk on the Great Wall, then roll through the Gobi Desert to Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, for an introduction to nomadic steppe culture. Wind your way through Russia’s vast taiga forest, skirting great Lake Baikal, stopping to explore fascinating villages along the line, and disembarking in Moscow.

Walking up to two miles per day on uneven paths, cobblestone sidewalks and stairs. Standing in museums and walking on a moving train; no wheelchair facilities.

General Notes

Depending on flight schedules it may take either one or two days for arrival into Beijing. Participants wishing to be matched with a roommate must enroll in Category 5 or 6. Extension: St. Petersburg: The Cultural Capital of Russia (#14601) is available as a POST-program extension.
