A passport is required for this program. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

This information about travel documents pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to their country's requirements to ensure they have the necessary documentation for travel.

United Kingdom

• Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

• A travel visa is required and it must be obtained in advance.

• The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.

• Your visa can be secured electronically. You may use the services of our designated visa service, Passport Visa Express, please see details on the process and the price at Passport Visa Express. If you prefer you may secure your electronic visa on your own, see the notes below for details.

Please note: American & Canadian passport holders traveling to or through the United Kingdom will need authorization via the UK Government's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Visa. The application is available online and via the UK ETA App at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta#apply-for-an-eta. You will need your passport information to complete the form. Once received, the application is expected to be processed within three business days. Once you have received confirmation, it will be valid for two years or until your passport expires (whichever occurs first). You must apply before entering the UK.

If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Three Ways House Hotel in Mickleton

Start of Trip:  3:00 p.m. hotel check-in; 5:00 p.m. Welcome Meeting & Orientation followed by Welcome Dinner in dining room.

Getting to the site: Please note that transfers are provided for all participants arriving to LHR on group arrival day, including those who have not booked air travel through Road Scholar. Participants who have NOT arranged their air with Road Scholar and are arriving on the official group Arrival Day will be provided with an arrival transfer to the first program hotel as follows: London Heathrow Airport Arrivals Hall Terminal 5 Near the Costa Coffee outlet within the terminal building. 2:00 PM Participants wishing to use this service must contact rsukprograms@roadscholar.org to request a space on this transfer, we can then confirm joining instructions. Should we not hear from you we will have to assume that you have made your own arrangements to travel to the first program hotel. If you are arriving in country ahead of group arrival day and wish to travel to the hotel independently, this can be done by travelling by train to Moreton-in-Marsh then taking a taxi to the hotel. Heathrow Express trains run directly from the airport terminals to London Paddington rail station, four departures per hour between approximately 5:15 a.m. and 11:40 p.m. The journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes, depending upon arrival terminal. Single tickets cost approximately GBP26 (2026 prices) if bought on the day, lower fares are available if booked ahead online at https://www.heathrowexpress.com/ticket-fares Trains to Moreton-in-Marsh depart from London Paddington rail station throughout the day. There is usually one direct train per hour, and the journey takes approximately 1 hour 25 minutes - 1 hour 41 minutes. A one-way (single) ticket should cost approximately GBP42-72 (2026 prices). Take a taxi from the station at Moreton-in-Marsh to Three Ways House in Mickleton. The 20-mile journey should cost approximately GBP30 to GBP40.

End of Trip: Breakfast until 10:00 a.m.; 12:00 p.m. hotel check-out.

Getting to the airport: A Hoppa Bus service operates between the hotel and airport terminals. Taxis are also readily available and can be booked at the hotel’s reception desk.
