At a Glance

Get your toes wet with marine biology as you get up close and personal with the marine life and birds of North Carolina’s Outer Banks with your grandchild. Cast fishing nets and examine your catch of the day with experts. Onboard a research vessel, observe species trawled from waters supporting five species of sea turtles and nearly 100 species of fish and invertebrates. Any creatures you don’t observe at sea are sure to be out and about when you visit the North Carolina Aquarium’s 306,000-gallon Living Shipwreck exhibit. Plus, practice wilderness survival techniques and hear stories and songs around the campfire.
Activity Level

  • Take a scientific look at a species called "market squid" during a squid-dissection class.
  • Meet owls, hawks and more during a live birds of prey presentation.
