If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn in Wengen

Start of Trip:  Group transfer to Wengen; 3:00 p.m. hotel check-in. 6:00 p.m. Orientation; 7:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner

Getting to the site: Traveling from Zurich Airport to Wengen requires the use of four to five trains and the trip takes 3-4 hours total. Please contact Rail Europe for assistance with schedules (www.sbb.ch). You may purchase tickets at the SBB ticket counter at the airport. Total cost is approximately 90-120 CHF. Once in Wengen, call the hotel and the hotel porter will pick you up with the electric car and help you with your luggage. Taxis are available; taxi fare from Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen will cost approximately 700 CHF. To book a taxi, please visit www.7x7.ch/en/home. From Lauterbrunnen, take the mountain train to car-free Wengen for 6.80 CHF. A private car and driver from the airport to Lauterbrunnen will cost approximately 700 CHF. Getting to the site by train or bus: Local transportation from the airport, instructions are supplied in final program packet.

Your trip ends on: Sunday, October 4, 2026 in Zurich at Dorint Airport-Hotel Zurich

End of Trip: After breakfast; 11:00 a.m. hotel check-out. Independent transfers to the airport using hotel shuttle.

Getting to the airport: A taxi from the Dorint Airport-Hotel Zurich to the Zurich Airport will take about 5 minutes and cost approximately 20 CHF. You can book a taxi through www.7x7.ch/en/home.

Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Transfers for Independent Travelers: Road Scholar no longer offers complimentary transfers to participants with “Program Only” Status. However, ONLY THE ARRIVAL TRANSFER on this program is an exception to that policy due to the distance to the first hotel. If you are arriving early or booked your own air, there is a possibility to reserve a seat on the group arrival transfer. Reservations on the arrival transfer can be made by contacting the Road Scholar Europe team. We kindly request that you wait until you have received your first Information Packet before reaching out with a transfer request. Please note that we will not have a Final Transfer Schedule until approx. 7 weeks prior to the program start date, and it will be included in your Final Information Packet. Please note that there will be only one arrival transfer due to the complicated nature of getting to Wengen, so there may be a wait for everyone to assemble. If you are arranging your own air, we request that your flight arrives NO LATER than 11:30 a.m. in order to ensure that your flight will arrive within the same time period as the flights arranged with RS. There is no guarantee that the final transfer schedule will coincide with independently booked flights. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
