Really? I sent you a review by email over a week ago. I tried to explain the total frustration and exhaustion of arriving at ECCO at 3AM with my assigned room locked!! NONE of the emergency numbers were answered. Luckily I am stubborn and walked back to the dining hall in the dark and cold to search again for a key or to sleep on one of the sofas. That was when I found out that my room was NOT A-7 but A-5. So then I was able to drag my luggage uphill and fall into bed at about 4AM. The person responsible for the room error was Jessica Langley. When I told her about the ordeal the next morning, she offered only an offhand and insincere apology. Needless to say, I have received no email, phone call, or letter from anyone at the R S office. Shame on all of you.

A fine way to see the highlights of Yosemite Park while hiking at a reasonable pace for those in fairly good shape.

W*O*W! Yosemite is majestic, breathtaking, HUGE, and mighty. RS has put together a quality "intro" trip which considers participants' skill levels and includes a variety of trails and destinations. In addition, the comfortable, clean accommodations provide OUTSTANDING meals that consider a multitude of dietary concerns while providing creative, tasty cuisine. Expert trail guides, informative and talented instructors, entertaining evening programs (John Muir & the Gold Rush were first rate), and a skilled, competent bus driver are all vital components of this educational adventure. BEST bang for your Buck! I just wish we had a few more days in the park. THANKS to: Our Lovely Leader LAURA, Down-to-Earth DOUG, Telling, Talkative TIM, The Sweep-DEBBIE, and Monika - you all RoCk!! (pun intended).

The program is exactly as described with this exception: food and staff exceeded already high expectations

The "Choose Your Pace" Yosemite-Up Close and Personal was a fabulous visit to Yosemite even for those who have been there before. The different paces push participants to do their best and are great for experienced hikers. Someone unaccustomed to hiking may have a difficult time, especially at these elevations. But if you've enjoyed hiking different regions, this is one of the ultimate places to do just that. You will be pushed outside your comfort zone on some of the more challenging hikes, and even the moderate ones will leave you happily dusty and played out.

This is a superior program! Accommodations and meals were great. No matter if you are a moderate or a challenge hiker, you will greatly enjoy this most beautiful national park. Hope you get Laura as your Group Leader!

Trip was one of my most favorites with Road Scholars. The guides and program leaders were first class, very knowledgeable and always accessible. The lodging and food were wonderful, especially the food. Each day was well planned and it was great to have a choice of hikes on most days. Of course, Yosemite is one of if not the premier national parks. I recommend this trip to anyone interested in awe, beauty and knowledge. Larry

Our "Hiking Yosemite Up Close and Personal" trip was perfect. Even the weather cooperated - not too hot or cold, and in spite of a wet winter/spring, the trails in early June were extremely accessible. The crowds were relatively "light" which made for a more enjoyable experience and the staff at the Conference Center, the leaders of the program and the presenters at the evening "events" were very knowledgeable and welcoming. Our hiking group was also great with varied backgrounds and so many exciting travel adventures to share. All in all - it was one of my favorite Road Scholar hiking trips, one I will surely add to my "must do again" list!

The hiking trip to Yosemite was awesome. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The Road Scholar staff from group leader to bus driver exceeded my wildest expectations. This is a “most go” hiking adventure.

The reality is that there are few ways to see Yosemite valley in a "hotel" setting, therefore one must travel the 1 hour plus from outside the park to get to the valley floor. The ECCO center does a phenomenal job. The leaders are the finest. The hikes are differentiated by ability. We had great participants! Highly recommend this program (this was my 13th RS trip).

The only way to really experience a National Park is to explore the back-country to witness vistas you cannot see from a bus in a parking lot. This program fulfills that goal, combined with educational pieces that impart depth of understanding. Go take a hike!

The beautiful Yosemite NP was enhanced by our Road Scholar experience. The hikes were designed to accommodate various activity levels, and they were spectacular. Even if you are not an experienced hiker, get a pair of hiking boots and take this trip! If you love nature and scenery, this is the trip for you.

This area of the country is absolutely beautiful! Our instructors were excellent and offered unique insight into what we learned about. If I had gone here on my own I would not have had half the experience I did, excellent program!

This was mine and my husband's first experience with Road Scholar. It was unbelievably amazing! It was perfectly orchestrated and highly recommend. Will definitely do another one soon.

The website is great but all the mailings I get are over kill and add to much to the cost of the programs. There were 2 programs going on at the same time at ECCO. I asked to trade programs with another woman because I didn't think I could keep up (which I couldn't) and was told R.S. didn't allow it. I think it would have been a better experience for all concerned if you did.

Yosemite hiking (choose your pace) was phenomenal. The park was the star but the program guides and instructors made it a treat. When it says 'choose your pace', it means you have 2 choices: moderate or challenging. A couple of people in the moderate group interpreted it as 'go at your own leisure' and the moderate pace/inclines of the hikes was more than they expected. Both groups require hiking uphill at higher altitudes. I felt encouraged in the challenging group (and it was challenging: consistent uphill steady pace over rocks and unlevel surfaces 5-9 miles), so read the descriptions closely and hike before the trip to prepare. After the first day with no hiking poles, I used poles reserved through ECCO and they helped with stability and climbing/descending. I loved learning the botany on the trails and the unique evening presentations. Doug as guide and Debbie as sweep were clearly experienced in empowering us to be successful. The beauty of Yosemite cannot be described with words. I did the October trip so the waterfalls are slight compared to spring, but the crowds were nothing like summertime. The weather was sunny and cool (40 rising up to 70 degrees) and perfect for hiking. ECCO rooms are rustic and clean and the food was excellent. Super experience!

This was my first road scholar program. It exceeded my expectations. I loved the listening devices which were easy to use so you did not miss a single word of the knowledgeable guides descriptions of the terrain and plant life.

The opportunity to participate in women only tour was a new experience for me and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Our group size was relatively small allowing for individual attention. Hiking through Yosemite was a great way to experience the beauty and grandeur of this magnificent National Park.

This was my first Road Scholar trip - hiking in Yosemite. It was a challenging and delightful experience. the meals were excellent.

Spectacular program! A picture of the Sequoias does not truly represent the beauty and the grandeur. Makes one feel like they are a very small part of the universe.

Road Scholar provides a great way to see areas of the world with competent and friendly guides! We had a great time on our Yosemite trip and will use Road Scholar again in the future.

If you like challenging uphill climbing you will love this program. Overall a very well run program with cheerful and helpful staff. The conference center is a bit of a distance from the park, (1+ hr) but they have a comfortable bus and very good drivers. There is a 'free day' on Wednesday that requires some planning if you don't want to feel the time was wasted. The park's bus system is confusing and the trail heads are not well marked if you are looking to hike that day.
