Great trip. Learned a lot about Wales, from the Bronze Age to the present. Conway Davies, our program instructor, was fantastic and made the trip come alive for all of us.

This tour to Wales was my first Road Scholar trip. I have already signed up for another to Costa Rica in 2 months. Such as easy way to travel.

Wales is a beautiful country. Our guides worked hard to share their knowledge, culture, and history with our group throughout the trip. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This program taught me so much and it has inspired me to travel more. At my age I thought I would not be able to keep up with younger travelers but the pace of the trip was great and pushed me to try harder things, but gave me the option to take it easier if necessary.

This journey through Wales was a wonderful experience. The tour leaders were excellent and we got a wide-ranging overview of both the north and the south of this fascinating land. Hearing our guide reciting the poetry of Dylan Thomas in his beautiful, sonorous Welsh voice was an unexpectedly moving experience. One of the best of our many Roads Scholar experiences!

There were no accommodations at the airport. It was a struggle to get bags to the hotel. It took one hour to get the heavy bags up the hill and find the hotel after being up all night and not finding the hotel. There were no signs or shuttles and it was cruel. A little map might help.

This tour of Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia Wales is a great way to experience a country with its own history and culture, different than other parts of the U.K.

Conway Davies is a true ambassador for Wales. His knowledge of the history and social aspects of Wales is not only boundless but easily accessible. He is an eloquent communicator who is able to hold your interest throughout the entire program. He is quite obviously well respected by all of the lecturers, presenters, performers and curators that participated in our program. They all made us feel welcome and encouraged our curiosity about all things Welsh.

Our trip had the most knowledgeable guide in Conway and a caring and helpful leader in Caroline. I feel like I took a course in Welsh history, culture. and geography. It was most memorable. Conway gave of himself in his knowledge, singing and humor. The hotels and food were best quality.

We all fell in love with Wales! I had no idea how historical and ancient the place is, and how much art and music springs from there. Enjoyed every minute and want to go back.

I thought the tour to Celtic Wales (14-24 May 2019) was a great success, primarily because of passionate, skillful, and experienced leadership of Annette Barton (tour manager) and Conway Davies (lecturer). Annette spend enormous time ensuring that everything ran smoothly; her attention to detail was impressive and she quickly sorted out difficulties that arose (lost camera, illness, etc.). I was impressed at Annette’s genuine concern for all participants in the program. Conway Davies was passionate, amusing, and well versed in Insular Celtic languages and mythology, Welsh history, and those industries (e.g., copper and slate mining, wool production) that financially sustained Wales. Conway enriched his sound commentary with lively dramatic reading from Dylan Thomas and musical evenings featuring a local choir and a harpist. Did I mention how much fun we had or how beautiful Wales is? I don’t see a place for a rating: 5 stars.
