June 8th is Age Adventurously Day
Road Scholar, the not-for-profit leader in educational travel for older adults, has officially designated June 8th as an annual celebration called “Age Adventurously Day!”
Our participants inspire us every day to live life to the fullest, and we want to harness that momentum and maximize its impact by inviting everyone, from the Road Scholar community and beyond, to join us in a day of celebration of the joys of aging.

Join us on June 8 to do something ADVENTUROUS — whatever that means to you.
Whether you’re traveling to a faraway place on this day or staying right in your home city — spend June 8 doing something that expresses your adventurous spirit. Try something you’ve never done before. Have lunch at that restaurant you’ve been curious to try. Ask your friend if you can join his pickleball game. Take a cooking class or a dance class. Go ice skating. Hike a new trail. Order food in another language. Paint. Join a book club. Adopt a puppy. Invite your friends to karaoke. Get a tattoo.

Adventure begins on the edge of your comfort zone.
Make aging your greatest adventure. Grab a friend, or grab a few — and help us make Age Adventurously Day on June 8 a day to remember.

Previous Age Adventurously Winners
Road Scholar is delighted to announce our inaugural Age Adventurously 2025 grand prize winner is George R. Hood of Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
George’s entry: In June 1972, I took off on an open-ended road trip in my faithful Super Beetle Otto. I had no set plans. Just a handful of maps. Three days into my adventure, I encountered the first “symptoms” of Hurricane Agnes. Fortunately, I decided to make a beeline home back to Rochester, NY. I was a little ahead of Agnes all the way back. Since I never really fulfilled my dream of taking an open-ended, no pre-set itinerary road trip, I've committed Age Adventurously Day as a chance to fill that void in my life. I'm allowing a whole month to just wandering around wherever the spirit moves me from day to day. Preferably, I’d like to visit places I've never been before, but if my route takes me elsewhere, so be it. Living adventurously, to me, has to transcend a single day or event in our lives — it involves a commitment to a style/philosophy of life that leaves one free to delve into subjects, places, people and/or experiences one hasn't met up with before.
