Imagine trekking through the lush jungles of Costa Rica, exploring open-air markets in Provence or practicing healing techniques in Sedona, all as part of a group of curious, independent women who love learning as much as you do. More than 70% of Road Scholars are women, reflecting the strong community of women who learn and explore with us. Here are a few of our most popular women-only adventures to get you started!
Active Adventures for Women
If you prefer to learn on the move, we can help you keep both your body and mind active. Lace up your hiking boots and take to the Appalachian Trail in the Poconos, where you’ll join your fellow female learners to explore the region with a local naturalist. Or hit the trails in Yosemite National Park, where small groups and varied difficulty options allow for a personalized learning experience.
Prefer to learn beyond the trails? Stay active while exploring the Galápagos Islands through snorkeling, biking and kayaking. Or experience Costa Rica’s rivers and oceans as you swim and raft through coastal ecosystems and rainforests. No matter where you go, you’ll stay active while sharing the experience with a supportive community of women.
International Adventures for Women
Exploring a new country alongside other women can add a special sense of connection to the experience. For example, you can set your sights on Kenya and Tanzania, where you’ll track wildlife on the Serengeti plains and learn about elephants in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. Or you can explore new cities, such as Rome, Florence and Venice, and discover their influential art museums and Roman ruins. Along the way, you’ll share new experiences and perspectives with other Road Scholar women and female Group Leaders.
U.S. Adventures for Women
If you’d like to stay stateside, one of our most popular options is Best of Sedona and Red Rock Country for Women. On this adventure, you’ll explore the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and ancient cliff dwellings at Montezuma Castle National Monument, with other women who love to learn and explore.
Another popular learning adventure brings you to New Orleans for six days immersed in music, food and architecture. From the French Quarter and the Garden District to Lake Pontchartrain, you’ll experience the Crescent City at a relaxed pace while learning alongside fellow Road Scholars.
