Cancellation Fee Credit

Frequently Asked Questions About Cancellation Fee Credits

The entire value of your credit must be used for one or more programs that start within 15 months from the date the credit was issued, but no later than 18 months after the date you canceled your enrollment. Remember, your credit expiration date is not calculated from the date you enroll in a program; it is based on when the program begins, so be sure to apply the full value of your credit to a program (or programs) that start prior to the expiration date noted on the previous page.

For example: If your credit expires on September 1, you must apply the full amount of your credit to a program that starts on or prior to September 1.  If you enroll in a program that begins on October 15th, you will not be able to apply your credit to the program, because it is after the September 1 expiration date.

You will not be able to renew or extend any remaining credit, and you will not be refunded for any credit that is unused after the credit expires. In short, you must use it or you lose it.

Your credit can be used to pay program deposits, the remaining balance on a program, international airfare arranged by Road Scholar with the exception of special or restricted fares, and Road Scholar cancellation/transfer fees.

Don’t worry, you will not be penalized if you used a Cancellation Fee Credit to pay for some or all of a program that later gets canceled by Road Scholar. Should Road Scholar cancel your enrollment in a program, the value of the Cancellation Fee Credit you applied to your program balance will be restored in full. Furthermore, we will give you a new 15-month term in which to use the Cancellation Fee Credits. For example, let’s say you enroll in a program that costs $2,500. You apply the $1,000 Cancellation Fee Credit you have on file and use your credit card to pay the remaining balance of $1,500. A few months later Road Scholar informs you that we were forced to cancel your program due to reasons beyond our control. We would refund $1,500 to your credit card, and automatically restore the full $1,000 Cancellation Fee Credit value to your account and give it a new 15-month term. So, you would then have another full 15 months in which to use the full $1,000 Cancellation Fee Credit for a program.
