Morning:
In our private meeting room at the Club, our music instructors will lead our final class with short biographies of some of the most influential early jazz musicians, including Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Eddie Condon, James P. Johnson, and Fats Waller. We’ll hear live piano, flute, and vocal performances of tunes for which these figures are best remembered, along with some representative recordings. Our presentation concludes with a special wrap-up session about the music we’ve experienced during the program.
Lunch:
At the Club.
Afternoon:
We will enjoy an afternoon boating field trip in search of dolphins, as well as other wildlife while admiring the scenic views of Jekyll Island. Along the way, our captains and master mariners will share their years of experience on the pristine Georgia coastline. . Before dinner, the instructors are leading a one-hour BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument) jam session for anyone interested! Anyone who plays an instrument (or sings) is welcome to join in. For those who don't, please feel free to attend to listen and cheer your new friends on!
Dinner:
At the Club. Share favorite experiences and enjoy camaraderie with new Road Scholar friends during our farewell dinner.
Evening:
At leisure. Prepare for check-out and departure in the morning.
